Names are not being added to the Lamb's Book of Life.

This may sound strange since the common belief is that our names are added to the Book of Life when we become saved, but scripture does not say that at all, in fact, scripture only ever indicates that names are being removed, 'blotted out'.

It appears that all of humanity was written down in the Lamb's Book of Life before the foundation of the earth, but those who ultimately reject the Living God and die in their sin are 'blotted out' of the book. Removed completely, leaving no trace that their name had ever been written there. At the Great White Throne Judgement, the Lamb's Book of Life will be the ultimate reference for who is alive in Christ, and a complete manifest of those who have a part in New Jerusalem.

Consider what scripture has to say concerning the Lamb's Book of Life:

There are 17 verses, found in 8 different books of the Bible, that pertain to the Lamb's Book of Life.

Thanks for the study.
I would, however, think that the names of sinners who have been blotted out of the book of life because of their sins could be added again, if they turn from sin permanently later.

This sounds more like a Bible study and there was no question put forth so I am moving this to the Biblical Growth & Study forum.

I believe that scripture is indicating that names are blotted out once a person’s final rejection has occurred.

God is indeed slow to anger, and His mercy is everlasting, but it is still appointed unto men, once to die, and after this the judgement. Matthew 12:31 and Mark 3:28-29 are very clear. How can we expect to live in Christ if we reject the Holy Spirit? There is no other way given.

So, do not reject the Holy Spirit when He convicts your sin.

Could be, but the sin itself probably has the greatest impact.
He who commits sin is dead in trespasses and sin.
Why would the rules change in heaven?
That is, if being dead in sin equates to not being written in the book of the living.

If one commits sin, one has already rejected the Holy Spirit.

Faith in Jesus is the requirement for His righteousness. Once a person's body dies, their soul is either in their living spirit in the presence of the Living God, or it is in their dead spirit awaiting the Great White Throne Judgement and the Lake of Fire.
