LBGT hide their identity.

Yeah, I'm not safe in my job everywhere or in my person. I have been in fist fights when a pastor took a private conversation and made it public.

Some people assume way too much about what it means to be gay. Bi, trans, etc.

Hi, holy999. I'm gay (well, homoromantic asexual). I was hiding this from most people until recently. I "came out" publicly a few weeks ago, on facebook.

There's a good reason we hide. People have a lot of things they assume about LGBTQ people, most of them not very nice. I've been called names, threatened, etc.
I decided to reveal myself in order to fight these attitudes. But for many people, it's not safe to do that. They can lose jobs, friends, the love of family...... even wind up homeless because of it.

I will clarify that I am unaffirming. This means that while I experience attraction to the same sex, I believe it would be wrong to date or marry someone of the same sex.

In other parts of the world I would imagine they hide themselves, but you can see them on full display at pride parades here in the north. It's quite something to see the older things at those try and educate the children by showing them their private parts and dancing like strippers all over the ground.

I think you are conflating education and a festival.

I wouldn't expect to teach children about catholicism at Mardi gets for example.

Pride events have a complex history and there seems to be a disagreement within the communities what the purpose is.

So far as kink at and stuff of that nature at pride events, that's because the kink community has long been an active ally for LGBTQ rights (this besides some LGBTQ people also being into kink). Being gay, bi, or trans doesn't mean you're kinky, but the kinksters do share history with the LGBTQ community. I'm not saying that I agree with children being allowed at the more adult side of pride events, but there is a reason the more adult side is present.

I get the divide and understand the arguments on both sides. I think the issue really got going because during the 2000s there was the push for marriage equality, and family rights so there was a lot of efforts to sanitize everything. The people who list family and people who survived the AIDS crisis understood that mainstream society won't help or trust us unless we make them money.

So it's a duality of wanting to be a part of mainstream society and rejecting it for rejecting us. It's a complicated mess.

I didn't conflate anything. They are teaching degeneracy. It wasn't something I intended to be said in a nice or respectful manner.

You are just trying to trivilize it. It is actually a more serious thing than you are willing to recognize. So no wonder things are the way they are around you.

Of course not, that's why ya'll go to the gay pride parade to do it, geez.

And speaking of the purpose of it...why don't you tel us what the purpose is?

That is a lot of buzzwords in that post! All with very well defined parameters, right?

Did this come out of I Corinthians? I mean, I just don't understand where God fits into all of this for you?

To me, it sounds like you took a lot of your philosophy from the DSM, and not from scripture?
So these are honest questions.

Go away.

Pride events are multi-purpose. They are celebration of progress made,

So...then membership is growing? The movement is growing? That can only mean there is recruiting going on, doesn't that make sense?

WHere do the new members come from?

but also protest and defiance of prejudice.

It's not defiance of predjudice, it's actually been a forbidden activity since the beginning of time itself! That's the way my Bible reads, just sayin'

So it's not a defiance of prejudice. More like a defiance of God rather?

Progress made, as in rights gained.

And prejudice, as in stuff like me being booted from my staff position just because I'm not straight - despite the fact that I'm unaffirming. (Which has since been resolved and put aside, btw, but I did not wish to return to my mod position.)
Prejudice as in I've been doxxed over my orientation, on the basis that I must be a danger to children.

homoromantic asexual)

This is what I don't understand. How can you latch onto a couple DSM words and embrace them to the point that you defy God? And continue to call yourself a Christian.
Christian values and morals do not find these sctivities to be in line with well known scriptures.

So, you are a Christian. I wont call you a liar. How could I know? So you are. So can I ask one question: Where does God fit into all of this?
How do you reconcile this with your Faith?

You have never told us.

Ed, I had you on ignore for a while, and I'm warning you that you're this close to going back on ignore. You've been on my tail for a while. Frankly, I want you off.

They're definitely not from the DSM, by the way.

So you're willing to call them prejudiced but you didn't even want that position? Ok so no harm no foul there. No prejudice either. Next?

What is it that you want so much that you can not do behind closed doors already? Nobody is oppressing you! They used to put those people to death, and you're complaining?! Lol.

The person who booted me isn't here anymore. I won't go into details as the matter was dealt with privately.

When people like me are called f@gg0ts, threatened just for our orientation, and when LGBTQ youth are 120% more likely to become homeless, we have a prejudice problem.
