The first post was made on November 18 2009. Six months later, on May 18 2010, the count was up to 5103. That's an average 850.5 / month. At that rate, it would take 1,175.8 months, or 97 years, 11 months and 24 days to count to a million.

After that, the thread died lay dormant until last December. By March 18, 16 months after the thread started, we had reached 6001. The average count per month was down to 375. At that rate, it would take us 2,666.6 months, or 222 years, 2 months and 20 days to reach our goal.

If we ever want to reach the goal of counting to a million, we have to do something to speed it up. But, if you want this to last, so that your great-great-great-great grandchildren can play, I don't see any problem with that.
