Such an pertinent issue and so often approached from the window on the back of the building. You already know my position here and I'll wait to see what develops. Good thread Chopper.

As an opening verse of Scripture that I feel we should focus on is:
1John 5:14 "And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. 5:15 And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him." (ESV)

My first Scripture that I feel is an answer to our thread is:
Luke 5:12 While he was in one of the cities, there came a man full of leprosy. And when he saw Jesus, he fell on his face and begged him, "Lord, if you will, you can make me clean." 5:13 And Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, "I will; be clean." And immediately the leprosy left him.

As we can see, it is the will of God to heal. What do you think?

Good point.

The man asked.......... If it be thy will, thou canst make me clean.

The man knew the Lord could do it, but is it the Lord's will to do it.

Jesus said, I WILL........... Be thou clean.

If Jesus were to give anyone else a different answer, then He must have changed or is a respecter of persons.

It's God's will that all men be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. Despite God's will concerning all men being saved, not everyone gets saved.

Not everyone gets healed.

Neither situation is up to God or his fault.

God has become the Christain scapegoat, and the scapegoat of the World.
Only a foolish and unlearned person blames God.

Blessings.

The Spirit lead me to this:

2 Corinthians 12:8-9 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.

I know when I was at my lowest point physically and mentally, he showed me his grace.

Good point Brother Mike. So from what you just said, I gather that if a person does not get healed, God is willing, but man either doesn't know how to appropriate healing or just doesn't believe it's God's will to heal because he says in his heart "If it's God's will, I'll be healed." Is that right?

God's grace is amazing. I am still learning to trust in it more.

Paul however was giving us a lesson on What not to do. Paul was not asking for healing. He wanted the Lord to remove that messenger who was opposing him and stiring the people up against him.

I believe that is true.I do not think everyone is going to be healed.I believe their mental or physical illness is being used for God's grace and God has a special plan for that person.Sometimes people get angry at God or even leave Him because they are not healed. There is a reason for everything that happens and God does not make mistakes. We will find out why when we get to heaven and we may say "Oh ya...that makes total sense".

2Pe 1:3 kjva According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

1Jn 5:14-15 kjva 14 And this is the confidence (Boldness) that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

There are lots of reasons a believer does not recieve healing. I have run into enough of them and getting wisdom from God as to the Why of things.

There are three very basic principles that need to be in place when asking God for Things.

The thing is already done and there. Just like Salvation.
We have to ask, already knowing His Will concerning it.
Without knowing His will, there can be no faith.

So, if it be thy will please heal me, is not knowing his will and being ignorant of his Will concerning healing. It's also taking two positions of I might be healed, I might not be healed.

James called this being double minded. Tossed like the waves of the sea by the wind, back and forth.

Jas 1:6-7 kjva 6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

so, its pretty simple. The same exact principle that man ask Jesus to be their Lord and Saviour, is the same principle asking God for anything else.

Not one time Have I heard a Pastor call people up to be saved and pray.

Lord, if it be thy will, Please Save these lost souls. If not Lord, then comfort their fall as they knock the bottom out of hell. Comfort their loved ones while they burn in torment if it not be your will to save them.

They give their life to the Lord, nobody see's anything, nobody doubts they are not saved now. They believe it so much with ZERO evidence but what the Word says. they tell others about the folks that got saved at church that day. It's that real to them.

Now you can be in faith to be healed, and still die. That is another thing though.

Here is what i got about a week ago from praying....quoting that verse above, but put the meaning for grace in it instead of the word grace and it goes like this.......three times i pleaded with the Lord to take it from me. But He said to me that my overwhelming desire to treat you as if sin never happened or unmerrited favor (grace) is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness, therefore i will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest upon me.

In our own strength we can do nothing (even Jesus said this), but with the Father who dwells within us, doing the works...He gets the glory which is how it should be. That is why Paul boasts in His weaknesses, because it was not him doing the Works, but the Holy Spirit working through Paul. Thus keeping Paul from having a spirit of Pride, which is what God wants to keep us all from. Everything that we do is not about us, but about our Loving Father, who decided to work through us to do whatever it is that He wants done. Then the wonderful thing is that we get the credit for being obedient.

Your close............almost there.

Paul's issue was not pride (Exactly) Paul tells us his issue and why He would rather be weak in something. We are all guilty of this.

Isaiah 53:5 and Proverbs 4:20-27 are good passages about healing. Proverbs shows us that the Bible is like medicine, and if we keep our words in line with what the scriptures say we will be healthy.

Also the woman with the issue of blood. She believed that Jesus could heal her, and told herself that if she could just touch the hem of His garment, she would be healed. And she was fully restored. I agree with Mike. It's there for the taking we just have to grab ahold of it and not speak anything else. We have to speak by faith. Not what we see, but what the Word of God says. Mark 11:22-25 is part of the key also.

To say that God heals some and not others, means that He values some over others. The Bible says that God treats everyone the same (God is not a respector of persons) there is no jew nor greek, etc....

Okay, I haven't been healed.
So now, go ahead and tell me I don't have enough faith to believe that God will heal me.

Mike,
You have so nailed it. I did not expect to see anybody arrive at the correct answer so quickly. From the personal perspective I never pray for healing of my physical self, just growth and for God's use of my Spiritual Self. God is supplying all I, my wife and my daughter need and He will as long as we do not run off on some miserable tear and either fully or partially desert Him.

The thing none wishes to deal with is the absolute truth with God. God is not a small monkey that entertains us when we are down inn the dumps and God is not a Genni in a lamp waiting for a request. God gave over the matters of this world to the control of Adam and Adam gave that control, through the ingestion of the Forbidden Fruit, over to Satan. Except God feels it is required for His will to be accomplished.

In a case like mine, I have already finished the promised three score and ten and yet God is not finished, not just yet, any way. And can be called home any moment now, or I can be here for the next century, it's up to our LORD.

From personal experience, I would have to say no. I don't believe it's His will to heal every physical disease.
