I personally think it looks great and can't wait. Are there any star trek fans out there.

I am not the ultimate star trek fan but, I have been waiting for a new star trek set of movies, just like the new batman movies.

I plan on catching it this weekend. It looks like it will be a lot of fun. :shades

Okay I saw it, pretty good movie. Visually it was awesome. Id say its worth seeing in the theater although there are probably better ones out there.

i like Star Trek the Original
Series i have them all on DVD

Years ago, before I became a practicing Christian, I loved Star Trek: The Next Generation. I was never into the original or any of the ones to come after TNG, but they were OK. Since I saw the light, I now see programs like this with the blinders removed and they're just not really very compelling anymore. For example, here's a snippet about Star Trek's creator, Gene Roddenberry

Brannon Braga said:
STAR TREK, as conceived by Gene Roddenberry, portrays the epic saga of humanity’s exploration of space and, in turn, their own struggles as a species. Every episode and movie of STAR TREK is a morality tale in which human beings find solutions to conflict through enlightenment and reason. Through science. Through wit and intellect. Through a belief in our potential as animals that can supercede our baser instincts. In Gene Roddenberry’s imagining of the future (in this case the 23rd century), Earth is a paradise where we have solved all of our problems with technology, ingenuity, and compassion. There is no more hunger, war, or disease. And most importantly to the context of our meeting here today, religion is completely gone. Not a single human being on Earth believes in any of the nonsense that has plagued our civilization for thousands of years. This was an important part of Roddenberry’s mythology. He, himself, was a secular humanist and made it well-known to writers of STAR TREK and STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION that religion and superstition and mystical thinking were not to be part of his universe. On Roddenberry’s future Earth, everyone is an atheist. And that world is the better for it.

40 years, 5 TV shows, 700 episodes and 11 movies. Not exactly as ancient or infamous as the Bible, but it’s a start. It’s been around for about as long as Scientology. Of course, STAR TREK is not a religion, although some fans might argue otherwise. It’s a vision of a world where religion has been vanquished and reason drives our hearts to explore ourselves more deeply. It is a template for a world that every single one of us in this room longs for. And in that regard, it is an atheistic mythology. STAR TREK is lively, action-packed and often profound. And its message is always the same: our inherent gifts of reason and compassion alone can solve any problem, and there is no time or place for a belief in something that doesn’t exist.

yes, i have been aware of that long before this post, and you're right, but it a choice to watch or not watch, if you go to the extreme shut off all tv then stop going to the movies, look i see a lot of trash on tv and i agree with those who shut off theirs, but it must be a choice not a law, I would love to see some more sci-fi and fantasy written by christians besides narnia and jrr tolkein, shoot were even divided over those.

To be honest i dont watch much tv anymore, but where do we go from there , sin and disbelief are everywhere, how shall we witness then.

sometimes a story is just a story. you'll do more harm to yourself seeing a consipiracy of evil behind every tree then siting down to watch a story while guarding your mind through God's word. You can't always cover your eyes and run away screaming "evil!! evil!!"

The movie was great. I'm not a huge fan of the ending and what it means to the rest of the series except star trek enterprise though. They did a great job casting the crew, especially spock.

It would be great if they would release this movie in 3D!!! :) Now if only the dvd would come out, that would be great.

How many Romulans does it take to change a light bulb?

The whole crew. One to change the light bulb, and the rest to blow up the ship to preserve their honor.
