let's talk miracles

I was saved by Pentecostals. I believe in miracles. I was raised Presbyterian. They don't generally believe in miracles. What gives?

As an example of why I believe in miracles...my hair. Between an untreated scalp problem and heavy chemical use (thanks, Manic Panic), my follicles were scarred. Scarred follicles=no more hair, ever. That was 9 years ago....

...today, I have a full, thick, healthy, wavy head of hair. Also, weirdly enough, the more hair I have, the healthier and smarter I am. So, as my hair began growing back, my cognitive skills began returning, which was never supposed to happen, either. Now, my hair is thicker than ever, a completely different color (naturally..somehow...), and my cognitive skills are up to snuff for college level work. Yes!

What miracles have you seen or received? If you're not into miracles, why not? I get the impression that most people on this board believe in miracles, because most of us are more traditional here than in many churches.

an acquaintance for over ten years recently said that doctors told her for 3 or 4 months that her red blood platelets or other parts of her immune system were falling apart, with they said potentially dire consequences somewhere down the road.
she did everything(mostly tests while they tried to figure this out) they said for those 3 or 4 months, and was prepared for whatever lay ahead, albeit nervous.

a week ago she greeted me (at her business when i dropped in to visit) with a radiant smile filling her face.
she had just got word from the doctors that her blood was 'healing' - her red blood platelets were fine now.
(she hadn't done anything yet, as they hadn't got that far in her testing and treatment.)
the doctors don't know (or don't admit) what happened.

Some do not believe in miracles today, but I say God has never changed as He is the same yesterday, today and forever. I am a miracle of God and have seen many other miracles of God manifested in others lives.

I believe in miracles.

If we define "miracles" as manifestations of the supernatural power of the Sovereign
God, then every time a new Christian is born into the family of God, a miracle has
occurred. The "new birth" [being "born again"] requires the supernatural power of
the Holy Spirit for certain. I also think of the teaching ministry of the Holy Spirit
[eg. Gal. 5:22-23] as requiring supernatural power. And even exercising faith in
the Lord Jesus as Savior requires supernatural help from the Holy Spirit that
enables us to believe and be saved.

I also believe that sometimes the Sovereign God performs supernatural works on
our behalf in order to protect us from harm, and sometimes to heal us when we are
sick. As to the latter, I have seen, at times, what I believed to be the supernatural
hand of the Lord working through the medical profession to achieve His Plan for
certain ones of His people and to answer their prayers.

Re Presbyterians and their belief in miracles: :): I am a Presbyterian and all
the Presbyterians I know believe that the Lord can perform miracles today anytime
he so desires, and I feel reasonably certain that all of them would tell you that they
also believed He actually had performed some miracles.

Michael64...LOL.

Hair's important to me because my hair loss was diffuse and sickly looking and premature. I had too much bleach, hair dye, stress, some kinda premature aging written all over me, so I was made fun of for my hair loss *mercilessly*.

Now, at 29 (soon to be 30!), I have thick, wavy, healthy hair. I *did* try to use pharmaceuticals and I still take supplements, but...there was just no way my hair was going to grow back. It started growing back after I did Teen Challenge, which I guess was God giving me a gift for 1 year of Jesus Camp, lol. Since then, my hair's gotten thicker, healthier, wavier, and changed color (more than once...weird, huh?).

If you actually want more hair, take taurine+green tea extract+grape seed extract+zinc. Trust me; I ripped off a Loreal supplement they sell in Europe and the UK. Not a miracle combo, but...beats Propecia.

Also, I think in my case, my hair is like a symbol or metaphor for my spirit. My spirit is back, so my hair is back, both in full force. This time around, I'll be extremely careful with both of them.
