    Focus on the Family addresses the use of biblical principles in parenting and marriage to strengthen the family.

Leviit or leave it! (lol)

... Day of the Lord is both....being versed in the OT, the disciples knew the difference between the two as being 2 events under the same name/day description.
This is where I part from many End Times 'students'. I don't see it as both and can't find the connection. Yes, I agree the Lord allows the Adversary to 'have his way' with the saints, but He doesn't play an active part in it, other than cutting the persecutions short. I do see His hand all over the following events. (Trumps, bowls, etc.)

Let me throw a few verses out there, in no particular order...

Acts 2:20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:

Mat 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

Luke 21:25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;

Mark 13:24 But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,

Rev 6:12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;

(Rev 6:17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?)

Isa 13:10 For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.

Joel 2:10 The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining:

Joel 2:31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.

Joel 3:15 The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining.

All these verses point to the beginning of the Day of the Lord. I set in bold the one verse that specifically sets a timeframe for this event. (Revelation 6:12) Unless anyone here disagrees that the first five seals are not of the 70th. week, we have to conclude The Day of the Lord is a seperate event. (note, I see the fourth and fifth seals as being the Great Tribulation)

I see no indication that the entire 70th. week is filled with Tribulation or Wrath. At least we agree on that. LOL ;-)

Thanks for the posts Vic.....

I'm not sure if this is Kosher :angel: but thought I'd cut and paste part of the entry on the Day of the Lord from Jewishencyclopedia.com:

Day of the Lord:

An essential factor in the prophetic doctrine of divine judgment at the end of time (see Eschatology), generally, though not always, involving both punishment and blessing. It is identical with "that day" (: Isa. xvii. 7, xxx. 23, xxxviii. 5; Hos. ii. 18; Micah ii. 4, v. 10; Zech. ix. 16; xiv. 4, 6, 9), "those days" (Joel iii.1), "that time" (: Jer. xxxi. 1, R. V.; xxx. 25, Hebr.; Zeph. iii. 19, 20), or simply "the day" (Ezek. vii. 10), or "the time." On the supposition that Genesis reflects the nation's earliest hopesâ€â€denied by the critical schoolsâ€â€the promises given to the Patriarchs of ultimate blessings upon Israel and, through Israel, upon mankind (Gen. xii. 2, 3; xvii. 2, 4, 5, 6; xxvi. 3, 4; xxvii. 29; xxxii. 12), may be taken for the primitive germ of the idea. The original conception was probably that of the day on which Yhwh manifests Himself as the wielder of thunder and lightning, as the devastator who shatters the powers opposing Him; and this was in historical times transformed into the day when He would smite Israel's foes (compare Isa. xiii. 6; Ezek. xxx. 3). But in the eighth century B.C. Amos is found sounding a decided warning against his people's expectation that simply because they are Yhwh's people the "day of Yhwh" will bring requitement on Israel's enemies alone. It will be an occasion of visiting wrong-doing both within and without Israel. "I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day" (Amos v. 18; viii. 9).

The whole article can be found in http://www.jewishencyclopedia.com and in the search line type Day of the Lord....it is a pretty good read.

Vic,

You can find anything that is Judaica in http://www.jewishencyclopedia.com. It is the premier reference for Judacia.

Being this is a prophecy forum, type in "Eschatalogy" in the search bar at that site and read the article regarding Jewish Eschatology. It is very interesting, especially thier concept of Messiah and the Millennial Kingdom.

Vic,

I like how you did that.....I'm not that adept at pasting the links....

One thing that caught my eye when clicking on the link you displayed is the third item down on the list....titled "Armilus"....

Armilus is the name whom the Anceint Jews bestowed on the future false Messiah. Most Christians think that the AntiChrist is a Christian concept, but in reality it predates Christianity in tjat it is a Jewish concept.
