I don't have the cert. but I know if I was willing to spend 8 hours in a class and spend a few hundred bucks I could.

I can drive a 4 and a half ton Kabuta tractor which has a backhoe and a loader. My uncle has one and I use it everytime I am there and have been for many years now. I'm proficient at many things with it.

I can drive a skid steer. I'm alright with an 18-wheeler although I have never tried backing up with a trailer on it. But I have done hill starts and all sorts of things. Again my uncle, he is a tractor trailer instructor and so he has taken me to the course they use for training people. He said one more summer and he'd give me a cert in it. (To bad I am not going to Maine this summer... :sad ).

Oh I do have my class B license. Meaning I can drive any vehicle over 26000lb but that isn't a tractor trailer, or something. I got it because my dad was taking the class so he could drive some of our town fire trucks and he asked if I could also, and they let me in. It's just for bragging rights. I don't own a vehicle even near that heavy...

And I have a class M which allows me to drive motorcycles, I got it because I was going to buy a motorcycle and the dealer wouldn't sell it to me unless I had my class M, but I ended up not buying it because living in New England with a motorcycle means you can only drive it for a 3rd of the year.

ah darn i should have put endorsements as well i can get a passenger endorsement as well. i have a class b and also we call motorcycle license an endorsement.

no drug tests mandated? skid steers are like tanks to me. they have neutral steer.

Drug tests? Shoot, my pee's so pure I could sell that on ebay and make hella money!

... brb!!!:lol

here we have to periodically take drug test or breathiser.once we drink water or any beverage we have three hours to produce a sample. if we fail our license is yanked.

my job does that testing for me., but i get more testing done from the national guard.

Uh no clue. But I've only had it for a few months so... Who knows. Would be good practice. Local PD requires mandatory drug tests every month. (Had an incident a few towns over in the 90s where a cop got addicted to coke during a case and was afraid to tell anyone and ended up OD'ing.) The don't fire you for drug use here, they stick you in a rehab place and than once you sober up you can come back, no harm no foul. They consider drug use a job hazard. :shrug

Not much to worry about for me...

serious?? man thats bad. on licenses i am speaking of course. i get tested because we are self-insured and also work for the govt. we also have a drug free policy and that is used to keep it that way. its a one time deal.you get tested and its hot mandated rehab and temporary removal of driving privalages and next time your done and and you aint driving any commerical vehicle legally.

But do you have the Fraternity of Police union backing you? :D

I bet that's why it worked out that way. I'd kick the dude off, obviously he cannot cope with the stress of the job.

no i am not a cop. the fop doesnt help mps. and i work on those listed pieces of equipment. fdot mandates a drug test done randomnly.

OK, so technically I'm not licensed but here on the ranch I operate the backhoe/front loader quite often.

As my mother-in-law often states, "I come from sturdy stock!" :lol

lol. post a pic of that bad boy. we have two john deeres one front loader and back hoe and a ford and new holland.

:lol, next time I have to do anything with it, I'll have to have some pics taken.

Hey, I'm just glad I didn't have to drag it out in order to get the septic serviced!

This isn't a picture of ours, but ours is the same model...nice 4x4 which is indispensable in the winter! It's actually a lot of fun to operate.
