Lies and Half-Truth in Christian news

Recently I read an article about Obama sending millions to repair mosques overseas. The “Christian”article attempted to use this as proof that our country and government is rapidly turning into a Muslim state. HOWEVER, what the article failed to mention was that this initiative originated during the Bush administration and was a fund used to repair historic buildings and monuments, this included but is not limited to mosques, churches and other historic buildings.

These half-truths and on many occasions outright lies and twisting of truth are actually becoming a growing trend in independent Christian news sites and magazines. And it’s growing rapidly as people read these things without researching the truth behind the words. There are some that find no problem with this.

However, as Christians should we not strive for truth? Do we really want the world to know us as nothing more than tinfoil hat conspiracy theorists, liars and ranters? Of course not. We are WITNESSES to the world. Representatives of God and His holy kingdom. We should not condone or tolerate those tha tuse half-truths, lies and twisting of words to push agendas.

We need to be better than that. We need to be a light in this dark world andnot manipulators of word and deed.

(side note, don’t get me wrong…both sides in media lie. But we as God’s children shouldn’t use thepoor behavior of the “other side” as an excuse to justify acting the same way)

Agreed. We should always question what we read, we need to exmaine it and confirm it is truth before we just simply believe it because they claim to be Christian or thye claim to be a news authority.

duh, we did that while i was in Afghanistan. i know i remember that we coordinated the mosques with the right builders from the right country., often it was muslims helping muslims. we also sent peace offerings to the locals as means of earning trust.it goats for ramadan

So Obama is continuing the work of Bush...either way we are using tax dollars to rebuild Muslim buildings,no separation of church and state there I guess, the most remarkable aspect of modern political discourse and debate is using corruption to excuse corruption....Person A says Obama did something....Person B excuses it by saying Bush did it to...conclusion...it doesn't matter because both did it....this should provide an excellent pathway to destruction because all each president has to do is the same thing the one before him did with perhaps a twist or slight escalation.

It's a step by step process which an increasingly corrupt electorate accepts and excuses....corruption in government is a reflection of corruption in the people, this is the reason for career politicians and the same people being sent back time after time no matter how corrupt they have been shown to be.

Mountain Man , locally that is the truth. I cant post it openly here. but let say that is the reason I say that the r's are no better then the d's in general.

Amen, amen, amen!!!!! I have a very large, very Christian family and sometime I just cringe at what gets shared as "fact" by members of my family, simply because they have this idea that if a source is "Christian" it must be true, because a Christian wouldn't lie or spread false information. If only that were true...

if the government were to rebuild churches here with tax dollars wow the aclu would have a fit.

Not necessarily true. We have a church here in our little community that is on the national registrar of historic places. As such, our town is able to secure tax dollars via various trusts and grants that allow for the upkeep and repair of the building... not because it's a church, but because it's historic.

on that note, I had my 03 Nissan Frontier keyed during church. I came out and it had two flat tires and and a scratch from from front to rear. yup no real Christian sins.

A lot of times the darkness is brought out into the light for us to see the truth. I cannot say what transpired in the media ....for I did not read the article, nor do I intend to. I will say that sometimes we are blinded to what really is happening and the enemy is using ever method to divide us. Create division. Supposedly the recent article and address relating to obama and the catholic schools comment was taken out of context. Supposedly he implied that divisions are not the means towards a true Christian unity. The Question I have to ask is.....

"Where are the divisions?" Is the catholic church the part of a division or is the other sects, temples, Congregationalists, modernistics, cultists, lutheranites, Baptists, or other denoms the divisions that separated themselves from the true Christian church? "Where is the heart of the Christian church......JESUS CHRIST and where do all roads lead to him that leads us to salvation? Then you will find the church and debates and arguments over.....

It's not about religion. It's about history. Many of those buildings being repaired are historical and sometimes art.

And therefore worthy of American tax dollars ? these countries should be paying to restore these buildings not us.

Yes, very much worthy. Not only is history important but it creates goodwill between countries which alone has it's own benefits for people of both countries.

anyway,we are getting off topic.

Absolutely....the US government taking money form its people to hand out like candy all over the world has worked wonders...these Muslim countries love us and show us every chance they get,off topic or not it is a perfect example of the insane idiocy that now passes for foreign policy.

Yeah...some of the things my mom reads via facebook that's supposed to be news...I'm just kinda skeptical of it.

You can't really trust any mainstream media, either. Third party news sources are probably better to get stuff the mainstream won't tell you, but at the same time, how do you know that they're accurate?

Exactly. hah that's funny. My parents get emails and see facebook posts that they totally buy into. So I've made it a happen to research everything they send me. If you dig deep enough you can find the truth.
