Location, location, location (except for tattoo parlors?)

Would you moralize to your local planning committee against a parlor's mall location

..People are going to get them regardless..

Well, I'm not entirely sure there. I mean, the fact that it's now so much easier and straightforward. carrying less of a risk, has probably been part of the deciding factor for not a few people.

A bit like multiple holes pierced in ears: it used to be a once in a lifetime thing, but now it's so easy and simple to go and have extra holes clicked in, isn't it?

(This may have factored in to however many you have, if you can recall how it happened.)

But yes, I wholehearted agree with you about the need to make it as safe as possible, and comfortable, too.

Blessings.

Okay, thanks for your response. What you say may particularly apply to the way things may have been in the past, especially in some places. These days, a parlor client might easily be a pastor's daughter getting a faith related design before she heads off to Bible college, or else a grandmother getting the initials of her first grandchild (did you know that the majority of parlor clients in North America are now women? which is also why your picture would kind of 'fit', too.) So the old image may still be there, but it has also changed considerably, too, which is why having the service available in the mall, in clean and well lit premises in regular hours, may make perfect sense to a lot of people.

So have you settled on a verse that you want for yours?

Blessings.

Farouk,

Honestly I haven't, because I think it is a long way off haha. I am a VERY skinny man at the moment, mostly due to a really fast metabolism; I know I'll probably never be fat, but I'm kind of waiting for the metabolism slows down and I grow into my form a bit more...before getting a tattoo. I'm worried if I get one now, it'll just become distorted as I grow "out" :lol

Well actually a lot depends on the placement and the size that you have in mind. Have you checked out some parlors yet? Tattooists, if they are good professionals, won't try to do a hard sell, but rather will want their customer to be satisfied, so you might get some helpful ideas. Again, access to conveniently placed parlors is all part of the equation. Blessings.

Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.

I understand that the stretch may not be as noticeable on a place like the ribcage as opposed to the bicep, or maybe chest, but aside from that, I would just like to be set in my general body size before I get a tattoo. I know I have a lot of bulking up to do yet, so I'll make sure to try it then....I'm really in no rush to get it done and maybe never will...it was just an idea that I've been thinking about.

It's good always to have a tender conscience about what one's reading of Scripture seems to indicate.

If you look at the surrounding passage in Lev. 19, it says about not trimming the corners of one's beard. How many preachers shave? I am wondering whether the context is Old Testament Jew in the land, under the law?

It also says, 'for the dead'; in connection with this, a pagan cult of the dead was associated with the practice the passage is referring to.

But if you are bothered by it, then don't go against your conscience; though I wonder what the overall context is.

Today, under the New Testament, some Christians get a faith related tattoo for the specific purpose of its witness value, in helping along conversations with people. It's an individual thing, of course.

Sleeves aren't hugely popular with women, ..

Just to point out that I'm not sure it's as true any more about the arm placement. Many parlors now specialize in exactly this placement for women clients. I saw an article which said: 'While tattooing was predominantly favored by men in years gone by, women are just as enthusiastic about body art now as their male counterparts. In fact more than two thirds of the tattoo market today is made up by young adults and women. It is therefore not surprising that there has been an increase in demand in arm tattoos for women with many tattoo parlors specializing in this area.' (From: 'Arm tattoos for women', womenstattoos.org ) Evidence of this substantial change can be seen in the rather obvious area of bridal dresses: it used to be often that many brides with arm /shoulder tattoos would want to cover them for their big day, but from what can be read and observed there are many brides who now positively look forward the opportunity to showing their arm tattoos when in bridal attire. A search of relevant discussions on the Web would bear this out.

(Just my two cents'; I had remembered what you said, and it might be still true to a limited extent but there have definitely been developments with regard to what many women regard as the social acceptability of arm tattoos. Blessings.)
