Looking to expand my soul

Sup, hello, or salutations! :wink

I am more of a "sup" person myself. I always like to have my first post in the intro threads. So to not break tradition.

I am just on my journey to humble my soul and heart completely. Which has been going on for about twenty years, I will be thirty years of age this year. Christianity was forced on me as a child but, in my adult life I see no other way and God continues to want more of me. The Bible however continues to elude my focus and can at times be a bit overwhelming.
Which brings me here. Currently around people who are not Christian themselves makes it hard to get my daily spiritual nutrition. I browsed this forum a bit and liked what I saw. Thanks for taking the time to read this and sorry for my semiliterate posts.

God bless!

Welcome to CFnet, JoJoe :wave

Reading/studying the Bible can indeed be a bit overwhelming at times. That's why I've found it to be easier to read one chapter (or so) each morning, and to reflect on what I've read throughout the day. And of course, there are any number of topics here which helps me to learn further :sohappy

Hope you enjoy your time in fellowship with us :wave2

Thank you for the warm welcome. Indeed breaking up the Bible per day does help but, for me personally I have to discuss sometimes to help it actually sink in. Bless the internet for access to such sites as this. :thumbsup

Understandable about wanting to discuss what you've been reading/studying for more clarification.

You've chosen a right proper place for great discussion :shades

Brother JoJoe, it's with pleasure I welcome you among us in Christian fellowship. There are many discussions here on our different forums conducive to our spiritual growth I hope you become involved in. You will discover opposing thoughts presented concerning interpretation of scripture, and that will present opportunity to study. I sincerely hope you are challenged to learn and become blessed in the things of God forever in Christ Jesus.

Amen and thank you brother!
I have a burning hunger that can only be filled by his word and I am done starving myself.

Welcome jo!
Thank you.

Sup Brother. That made me laugh as I from time to time respond to some of my closest friends. Anyway I digress, welcome in Jesus name.
I have my own way of reading the Bible. Basically I break it down in 3 ways. Casual reading in which a one a day approach works for me. Whether it's one scripture or chapter. Next is meditative reading, in which I will sit and ponder what I've just read. ( I like this alot ). And lastly I like to call scholarly reading, in which my approach is to break down and study in depth. Anyway I hope this helps at least a little. Again, Welcome!

Thank you and any advice surely helps. I do try the meditative approach most of the time. So maybe I need to just take it lightly at times. I still haven't found a good amplified Bible, its mostly the wording that gets my goat. I miss my military bible...:shame

Thanks again and bless your heart.

I personally use E-sword, a great and free software avl online. Its perfect if you want to dive deep in study. Also I use a KJV Amplified Bible with my KJV Bible. I have many more resources to name but these are a few that I have found most useful.

I truly believe in St John 14:26. Give it a read if you can. God will truly lead you in the reading of His Word. Trust Him always and I like your approach, nice and easy. Reading is a delight and studying the Word of God plants seeds that you may not notice the growth at first but in its season it will spring forth in you! May our God grant you much wisdom and understanding for all your needs!

Hi. I have problems w/ Bible study, too...just now getting into the swing of it. I can relate.

I hope you like it here.
Thank you. I am always up for study with others. This place seems a tad intimidating with my lack of word (hate to admit it) but, I am sure I will love it here. Churches in my area seem to be all about damnation instead of grace and forgiveness. Sad judgment is too common for Christians these days.

Amen brother! I sure need the teachings of the holy spirit in my life. If I could double like this post I would.
I do like some bible software however, I rather have a physical one. I am going back into the streets again soon, so a phone might run out of juice. A book is a better option plus I rather be old school. :cool2

Welcome Jojoe! Blessings of peace and joy be yours in abundance! Hope your finding good things here to get involved in.

Bless you Sister and yes I am very much enjoying myself here. Talking with everyone here is a blessing and privilege that I look forward to everyday. Thank you!
