Hello everybody, I just found this forum and have been burdened with a question for quite some time that I hope someone on here may help me with.

Why does the Bible teach us to help our brothers who are trapped in sin, but warns us to avoid women who are in the same predicament? Specifically, women who are adulterous or wayward? I know the simple answer might be that we will fall into temptation to sleep with them, but the scripture seems to make it out that there is nothing we can do for them, but we should go after the lost men more than the lost women. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Welcome to the forum.

It might be helpful if you could point to the scriptures where this is found.

welcome Jcross,

I'm also lost with what you are asking. Do you have any scripture to help us to understand what you are asking?

I'm guessing they're talking about the many warnings in Proverbs about staying away from the wayward wife versus the exhortation in Galatians to restore the one caught in a sin.

Welcome to CF.net:wave

Your question is so...:dunno:shrug:confused

And can you help us with some :readbible

I think common sense prevails. We men need to avoid being seduced by a seductress. If you have the opportunity to witness to such a woman, and can resist her charms, then witness.

And, also

I think common sense prevails. Women need to avoid being seduced by a seductress. If you have the opportunity to witness to such a man, and can resist his charms, then witness

Now balanced

I had sort of a hitch hiker ministry many years ago when I used to travel out of town to a job in a nearby city. My rule was to keep driving if I saw a young female hitch hiker on the road. As a young, healthy, red blooded male I understood perfectly why so much space in Proverbs was devoted to warning us men of the temptations and dangers of the wayward woman.

There are just some things that a little honesty and some godly sense tell us we should not test. But I know we all have to make that call for ourselves. To me it's like thinking you can watch an R rated movie and think you're just going to close your eyes when the blond bimbo starts taking her shirt off and then open them again when that parts over.

Solomon speaking of the adulteress:

24...listen to me;
pay attention to what I say.

25 Do not let your heart turn to her ways
or stray into her paths.

26 Many are the victims she has brought down;
her slain are a mighty throng.

27 Her house is a highway to the grave,
leading down to the chambers of death.

(Proverbs 7:24-27 NIV1984)
