I've been around a lot of the "love at first sight" types... My dad fell in love with my mom at first sight. She was simply walking past their house when he saw her and he jumped over the hedge to go talk to her. Turned out she went to his high school, but they hadn't met each other yet...he became friends with her brother just so he could spend more time with her. They married about a year after they met. They were married over 50 years before Dad passed.
My brother-in-law and sister were also "love at first sight"... They met in September of their senior year in high school, started dating at Christmas, became engaged on Valentine's Day and married two weeks after they graduated. That was 38 years ago and they are still very much in love.
My brother also fell in love at first sight. He was a real mess at the time so she didn't love him back...not until he cleaned up his act. Which he did... gone were the porn mags, replaced with the Bible. He stopped the drugs... he never could quit the smoking though. He's tried a number of times, but just can beat it. Anyway, they've been married for 35 years now.
And, it was pretty doggone close to love at first sight when Steve got the copy machine at work hopelessly jammed and I had to drop what I was doing and go get it unstuck... I was immediately attracted to him, very strongly so... some mutual friends talked him into to taking me out and we were married 11 months after our first date. It will be 15 years in February.
And, against all odds, my daughter fell in love at first sight as well. At first I wrote it off as a school girl crush, but it's been 5 1/2 years now, and she's still very much in love with him. It remains to be seen if they'll wind up together, there's still 2 years yet before they can date. But, she's still determined to marry him once she's old enough and so far he hasn't been in any hurry to date anyone else. We'll see....
