Love Is in the Water as Thousands Seek Jesus in Massive Kentucky Revival

A powerful revival swept through the University of Kentucky as 2,000 students made professions of faith and participated in spontaneous baptisms...

About 2,000 students made professions of faith and participated in spontaneous baptisms during a revival service this week at the University of Kentucky. The event, hosted by Unite US, saw an attendance of 8,000 students at Rupp Arena the University of Kentucky on Wednesday.

"We've been praying for this night for months, and God met us here again. Over two thousand students flooded the altar to surrender their lives to Jesus, and we know it's just the beginning of all He has in store," Unite US stated in a post on Instagram.

"It's hard to believe. This keeps happening. It is insane," said Unite US speaker and founder of IF: Gathering Jennie Allen.

"Every time they are confessing their sin, they are yelling it out. They are responding to the gospel in herds. Like droves of kids are coming forward to receive Jesus," she added. "We are baptizing kids for an hour and a half. [They are] giving their lives to Jesus."

"It is only God," Allen said. "There is a movement amongst students that you can't believe. And even when you see it, you can't believe it!"

Attendees were treated to a time of worship, fellowship, as well as a message delivered by Unite US founder, Tonya Prewett.

"You get so tired of the enemy and his attacks that you will do anything. Even if it costs everything. Many times, God will use our deepest pain to propel us into our deepest purpose," she shared.

As a result, hundreds of the students made professions of faith for Christ, followed by baptisms.

I find it a little amusing that the link at the very top of page is to "Fund the Movement", and the first of the line of links near the top is for their "Merch". Plus, their website tells us almost nothing about them--what they believe, who's behind and supporting them, who their ministers are and who's speaking at their meetings, and so on. I think that tells me something about them. I think I would like to know more about them before I believe the hype.

"Spontaneous baptisms!" I'd be interested in where this isea is found in the bible.
Those examples I'm aware of were going to work in dangerous situations, like the Ethiopian treasurer or the jailer. Both he,d official positions that required them to offer sacrifices to demons.

Just what reason can be given for spontaneous baptism where no thought is given to what is meant.

How amused are you when the plate is passed at a church you attend ?

Where do you read that is said "no thought is given " ?

What did Jesus tell the apostles .

Mark 9:38-41 NIV

Whoever Is Not Against Us Is for Us

38 “Teacher,” said John, “we saw someone driving out demons in your name and we told him to stop, because he was not one of us.”

39 “Do not stop him,” Jesus said. “For no one who does a miracle in my name can in the next moment say anything bad about me, 40 for whoever is not against us is for us. 41 Truly I tell you, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to the Messiah will certainly not lose their reward.

A little amused. I remember going a few times to a certain church, not one that was overly large. No matter where one sat in the crowd, one had a good view of the stage where the preacher was preaching, yet for some reason this church also insisted on having large, I mean very large, screens on the walls to either side of the stage, which of course showed the pastor preaching. Just to make the disorientation even more disorienting, there was a bit of a lag between the real-life preacher and the screen preacher, so the real-life one would make some sharp movement, then the screen preacher would make the same movement some fraction of a second later.

Of course, tech gadgets aren't cheap, so one thing everyone was hit with at that church was the many and sundry ways to "give". And don't get me started on that thing so falsely called "Christian television", where "ministers" spent at least half their program time manipulating viewers to either send them money or buy their stuff. Oh, wait, not buy, but send a "love offering".

So, we all know that revival is big bidnez. And when a group's web site is pushing their merch and ways to send money to them, I think I can say with some assurance that I know what's important to them. And I have a history of fake revivals, especially in recent times, to support my cynicism.

It is funny I never gave it a thought when I saw their home page , the "pushing" did not even catch my eye . It was not a pop up covering half a page . Pushing I don't see it IMO .:shrug

Is supporting cynicism in your view of Christianity such a good idea ? Skeptical , ok but even then .

That is unfair, only if they require money BEFORE doing the work of God, or for the work of God to occur, is it wrong.

Being supported financially by God's people is taught in scripture:

9 For it is written in the law of Moses, "You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out the grain." Is it oxen God is concerned about?
10 Or does He say it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written, that he who plows should plow in hope, and he who threshes in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Cor. 9:9-10 NKJ)

In the Didache (Teaching of the Twelve Apostles) they discuss this distinction, but the idiom of ordering a meal requires some explanation. "Ordering a table be laid" with food before doing the "spiritual work" = false prophet:

9 And every prophet who ordereth in the spirit that a table shall be laid, shall not eat of it himself, but if he do otherwise, he is a false prophet;

10 and every prophet who teacheth the truth, if he do not what he teacheth is a false prophet; -The Didache: The Teaching of the Lord to the Gentiles through the Twelve Apostles. (C. Hoole, trans.). (1900).

The best way to distinguish a true work of God from what is false, is the objective truth of the Bible. Are they in rebellion against God's truth (practice LAWlessness), or do they obey it:

20 "Therefore by their fruits you will know them.
21 "Not everyone who says to Me,`Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
22 "Many will say to Me in that day,`Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?'
23 "And then I will declare to them,`I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!' (Matt. 7:20-23 NKJ)

Satan cannot cast out satan, but he can feign being cast out. Christ and His disciples didn't do "exorcism with rites and chants", in the name of Jesus evil spirits were literally cast out.

Many modern exorcisms have rites etc., and they plead with the demons to leave, and eventually some choose to do so after a long conversation. But that isn't being cast out by the authority of Christ.

But instead of trying to figure out if something "supernatural" is from God, look at the teaching that springs from it. If it is "lawless" (against God's Bible in any way), that "miracle" wasn't from God.

1 "If there arises among you a prophet or a dreamer of dreams, and he gives you a sign or a wonder,
2 "and the sign or the wonder comes to pass, of which he spoke to you, saying,`Let us go after other gods'-- which you have not known--`and let us serve them,'
3 "you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams, for the LORD your God is testing you to know whether you love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
4 "You shall walk after the LORD your God and fear Him, and keep His commandments and obey His voice, and you shall serve Him and hold fast to Him. (Deut. 13:1-4 NKJ)

I have no opinions about the revival Hawkman reports, don't know what they teach. I rejoice in anything that brings people to God:

38 Now John answered Him, saying, "Teacher, we saw someone who does not follow us casting out demons in Your name, and we forbade him because he does not follow us."
39 But Jesus said, "Do not forbid him, for no one who works a miracle in My name can soon afterward speak evil of Me.
40 "For he who is not against us is on our side. (Mk. 9:38-40 NKJ)

As long as nothing is taught that Christ would disagree with, I wouldn't condemn it.

I am a cessationist, but powerful conversion by the Holy Spirit to Christ has never ceased. Some are changed without feeling anything, some are powerfully immersed in the Holy Spirit, both conversion experiences are seen in Scripture. Both are changed radically, their perception of God is He is now Father Abba, in truth. They are born from above, by God's Holy Spirit...

'Spontaneous ' Spontaneous means happening or done in a natural, often sudden way, without any planning or without being forced.
Or without planning as it just happens.
Their word choice to me is odd with "Spontaneous" because it is planned in advance . The arrangements for water being present are already made before hand .

Why Gen Z could be the revival generation

Clip from article .

"One of the most striking aspects of this revival is the renewed emphasis on traditional values and strong families. For years, culture has dismissed the nuclear family as an outdated institution. Yet, young people are increasingly recognizing the importance of stable homes, marriage, and the biblical model for family life.

Unite US started with a worship experience at Auburn University in the fall of 2023. Nearly 200 people were baptized that night. The movement has since spread to other campuses, with hundreds of college students baptized at Florida State University, the University of Alabama, the University of Georgia, and the University of Tennessee.

This generation has seen the brokenness caused by fatherlessness, divorce, and moral relativism, and they desire something better for their future. They are rejecting the chaos of hookup culture, the confusion of identity politics, and the aimlessness of a world without moral foundations. Instead, they are turning to Scripture, seeking wisdom on how to build godly homes and communities."

This is so amazing and I agree that God does use our deepest pain as He did for me many years ago that changed my own life. We need more revivals all across the world.
