Bible Study Luke 1:39-41

Luke 1:39-41
King James Version (KJV)
39 And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda;
40 And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth.
41 And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:

Mary Visits Elizabeth
39 Now at this time Mary arose and went in a hurry to the hill country, to a city of Judah, 40 and entered the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth. 41 When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.

39-40 This would have been a city near the temple that they went to Zacharia worked in the temple as a priest. She came to see Elizabeth and see for herself that she was pregnant because if she was not pregnant she herself may not be pregnant. She also wanted to know the power of the Lord, that He can do all things, she would learn this first hand from Jesus.

41 The baby had the Spirit in him. Jesus was Spirit in the flesh but John was a man filled with the Spirit even before birth, the Spirit fills Elizabeth for her to speak.

While there was an element of doubt within Mary (hence the hurried trip to verify the way of things with Elisabeth), her faith prompted her to follow the path our Lord had for her: to bring the Holy Spirit to John before his birth. His will and His blessings are amazing!

I see it as confirmation made by the Holy Spirit as when the baby leaped inside Elizabeth when Mary came in Elizabeth's presence this confirmed to both of them why they were pregnant and in whom they were carrying inside of them.

I've never been pregnant, but John leaping in Elizabeth's tummy probably felt amazing.
Reminds me of this picture:
