here's my list..
baked potato w/asparagus
viola bags/freezer section
new orleans rice w/cooked ham and green peas
spaghetti angel hair w/fish
mashed potatoes w/kielbasa
teriyaki noodles w/egg rolls

Re: Dinner Ideas

You have a lot of starchy stuff in your recipes. Have you thought of simply grilling meats of various types, and you can baste them in something to make them more flavorful? Get yourself a bunch of containers and dice up lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, onions, etc and you can have a buffet style availbility of veggies for salads quick and easy.

You can get a few dozen eggs and learn to make eggs in all types of ways. That's cheap protein but good stuff.

Top off your foods with a good wine.

Re: Dinner Ideas

Bratwurst wrapped in Bacon is always good.

But if you are looking to mix things up you can do some chinese food, i.e., orange chicken, or beef and broccoli, along with some fried rice or chow mein noodles.

My wife says that without her I'd live on popcorn and top ramen lol!

I make a mean homemade spaghetti sauce and a mellow mexican hot sauce that's full of flavor. Home made chicken enchiladas are excellent too, but kind of expensive.

An easy dish to make is cod or halibut. Put it in some tin foil and on top of your fish put a pat of butter, some onion, tomato, maybe some green pepper. You decide. A dash of salt and pepper, wrap the tin foil up and bake at 350 for about 15-20 minutes. umm umm!

Awesome ideas here, and this thread is for everyone. Throwing ideas out there can always help beginners. I should definitely start eating salads, maybe once a week i'm thinking. I used to love salads, my favorite dressings were the vinaigrette's. I already have the fruits for lunch/pineapple and cantaloupe and applesauce for snack. I used to eat bananas and yogurt, but i cut back on those recently. I always like to change it up every now and then. i love chinese food, fried rice etc..

Eggs and chicken thighs are also in my diet right now, i used to love cooking meat but i kinda been falling away from that lately. i used to cook/fry boneless chicken breast, steak and pork chops. I'll probably go back to meat soon, changing it up can be a lot of fun.

I should learn to fry more; onions, peppers etc..
For lunch i usually go back and forth between cereal and deli meat/sandwiches/deli sides/fruit bar

A good wine would sit well.

Do some Mexican food - simple but very tasty. I don't cook much at all and I can still make Nachos very easily. Mmmmmm......

Not as easy to make, but you can spice up your menu with some Indian food. Almost nothing beast Indian food, IMO. For a simple dish, try Butter Chicken. :)

Yuck! I see you're really in need of good dinner ideas! :p

Have you ever tried deep-fried breaded potatoes? Sprinkle some sugar and salt on it and it is irresistible! (McDonald's puts a coating of sugar on their fries, that's why they're the best.) Wash it down with a Coca Cola! You could do that for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If you have some protein cravings, add a frank on the side. Nothing is more American than a hot dog, fries, and a Coke!

For you deep fryer, get some hydrogenated vegetable oil. Anything else you'll have to dump after using a couple of times because it'll start stinking.

oooo. i really like to cook. i don't want to overwhelm you. seems like you like the simple dishes, so outside of pasta and stirfry, you could try beef stew with your favorite chunky veg. you could roast a chicken. it is easy, only it takes a couple of hours. but you can throw everything right into the pan...potatoes, onions, garlic, carrots. easy peasy. with the leftover chicken i make chicken noodle soup with the fat off the chicken, fajitas, stuffed peppers. simple. just add your favorite rice. jasmine is the only white rice that will actually give you some nutrition and not stick all over your insides. :yes
