Merry

Then what are you doing there - fishing???
Go to Colorado next time...
LOL
We got snow here but not close to me. I went my friends house the other year and seen snow. I went outside to catch snow, it was great. First time i ever seen snow fall.
I know how you felt, a little.
I live in a place that gets a little cold in the winter but really never snows.
When the girls were little, we'd drive 30 minutes up into the high mountains so they could play in the snow.
They had such fun!

Learning the medical system was a crash course sort of thing. They basically have free medical for Kiwis. There is government type insurance and private insurance...again for Kiwis. There is tourist insurance for foreigners but it is for emergencies. On the American side there is private insurance and Medicare but only for here in America. There is American international traveler's insurance, but again, only for emergencies. That leaves cash. Cash is accepted in New Zealand and we will be able to bypass the waiting list and see an after hours doctor by using cash payment. We still have to locate a medical center and provide a GP with our son's records. He will then have to refer a specialist. We still have a lot of ducks to line up. We do have the cash but it will delay our time table to move. As soon as our son got sick we began to liquidate assets.
You have much to consider.
And you've done your research.
I just don't understand how the medical care could be better than in the States.
Is it that the ins companies won't pay for treatment?

They refused to treat our son and even test for H-Pylori even though he had all the symptoms. The doctor just wanted to put him on prescription ant-acids and acid inhibitors. In other words just treat the symptoms with no effort to identify the cause. You can have the best medical system in the world but if the government decides to cut you out of it, then you are left scrambling to find healthcare....just like it would be in a third world nation.

Somethings not right here, all I know is last year the govn spent more on welfare than health and education combined.

Its great. Nice weather on Christmas day. Can have a BBQ or go the beach.

I would like a winner Christmas. I want snow and fireplace and roast turkey. It would be great.
Kiwidan, where the heck is that video you posted of that boys school kids bidding farewell to that elderly gentleman. I saw it last night but can't find it. I wanted to show it to my wife and son. Looked high and low but just can't remember which thread it's in.

I think it was a private school. There are some good schools here but i dont know the system these days. Im not up to date on how everything is the nation runs. I heard some schools cant get teachers because they all quit can't handle the students.

I will find that video and post it for you.

They gotta do something about letting foreign investors into the housing market too. That's going to force many into poverty.

It has broke people already. The housing market and rents have gone out of control in the city yet wages stayed the same. Out the citys its no so bad can still get affordable housing, but it is hard for working citizens in the city to buy a house in there own nation.

I'm sorry you're having such problems. We hate to see our children suffer.
I hope he's taking the antacids too.
It's good to also treat symptoms in the meantime.
Right?

That is a cruel thing for a government to do this to its own people.

We found a testing center and went around the doctor. The testing center "lost" his first sample and then delayed giving us results for so long on the second sample, we said that he must have H-Pylori. They're withholding results and can't say why. We found someone who prescribed the med pack for H-Pylori. The reflux is now gone. Its the aftermath of massive reflux we are dealing with now. There is so much esophogal scar tissue it is blocking his throat. All food must be blended down to baby food consistency. We are seeking treatment to remove the scar tissue so he can eat normally.

Oh my God. Calling on His name.
The name of Jesus which has all power. To heal your son in the way He sees proper and strength for you and your wife while living with this daily cross.
May God bless you with His care and love.

Its still good nation in general im sure you and your family will like it, just like any nation it has its issues, but Im not knowledgable in the politics here at the moment, maybe some things have changed. Its still a good place, I mean, everyone who comes here for a visit or migrates say they love it, so it must be good.

And here for years I thought it was Gesundheit. (had to look up the spelling)

I guessed...it was an educated guess but I didn't think I got it right. (Went through Germany and Austria this past summer on my way to Slovakia)

And I am grateful that after years of French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese and Mexican language lessons (Nevermind years of Aussie and UK English) that someone can still understand anything I spell.

I think your spelling was correct. We were using two different words.

It's 3.4 degrees F right now here and we have about 2 - 3 ft of snow. Burrr.........but warmer than last week at 9 below. It got down to around 19 below last year a few times at night.

You have my sympathies. I grew up in N. Minn. I know. There is great beauty in winter, but I prefer milder, when given a choice.
