Microsoft software license for church.

Hi wise one..
I am helping out a church in upgrading their IT system.. The computer that the church has is normal pentium 4, 512MB RAM and because of that can't support windows 7 without further upgrades. The cost of updating the softwares are expensive enough so am not so keen in upgrading the hardware such as RAM etc.
Besides, they only do basic things like typing, checking email etc and don't need such fast RAM.
That as well as the users of the computer (church staff) only know the basic computing and are familiar with Windows XP environment.

Because of that, I'm thinking of getting Windows XP Home (OEM) and Microsoft Office 2007 Home (OEM) for the church.

Here, I'm faced with 2 issues which I need advice on.
1) Can the church use Win XP Home instead of Win XP Pro and Office Home instead of Office Business Edition (because the church only need basic computing solution). I've check with few computer shops and some say can but some say cannot. I just don't see the point of paying extra for things the church don't need all because Microsoft is trying to get more money. Anyway, I still need advice on this.

2) Can the church buy OEM and yet able to reinstall the program (Windows etc) on a new motherboard if the old motherboard spoilt. Single license are only used one 1 computer at any time and not 2 or more. I've followed the discussion on another forum at http://forums.cnet.com/5208-6142_102-0.html?threadID=131703&start=15&tag=forum-w;forums06 and I've come to the understanding that you can actually do so on the condition that the Microsoft people gives you the activation code after you have activated the program online for more than 10 times (which I think is very unlikely to happen). If they don't want to give you the activation then you are forced to buy a new software. Yes, there is a risk but what is the chance of that happening..? Anyway, I need advice on this too.

By the way, I help this church as a ministry and am not trying to get anything from the church. I'm jst trying to help them get what they need without spending too much unnecessarily.
If you can advice on this then i would be very grateful..

Thanks wise one..

I am not sure that you want to use XP. If your looking for cheap software you should consider Linux, something like Ubuntu will do all the basics your looking for and can use free office software that is compatible with MS Office formats. Open Office is even available for Windows so consider it as an alternative. Also the amount of community support is amazing.

Then try using some church software because it will help your church a lot. Churches these days have begun to realize the true benefits of technology and many are choosing church software to organize their congregations with great success. There are many benefits of using church software. :p:yes
