Do we reverence a building, or should our reverence be unto God.
IMO, it should not matter what a Priest or Pastor's garb should be as the preaching of the word of God needs to be more important as we give reverence unto God alone.

I 5hink it a waste of resources.
A distinctive uniform for ministers sets them apart from everyone else.
What a minister should wear should reflect how the congregation dress. The minister is a saved sinner, as are the members of the church. He has been called and set aside to serve the local church and a uniform/clerical dress actually removes him from his fellow worshipers.
Your thinking is mostly correct, but in my opinion, such clothes provide comfort to pastors and make them look distinct, as the collar of the shirt is special for clergy.
