Monty Python's Life of Brian: A Christian View

While Paul offered that ALL things were LEGAL for him, he also in the same breath stated that ALL things were NOT prudent for him to 'further his walk'.

When we take into consideration that movies and a 'level of sophistication' that we are able to entertain NOW didn't EXIST durring the time of Christ.

NEVER forget that the 'tree of knowledge' was JUST that: The 'tree of knowledge of good AND EVIL'. There was NOTHING 'evil' about the 'tree'. It was man's INABILITY to discern that led to the problems that we have faced ever since.

I think that, not only was/is "Life of Brian" a parody of Christ's life, but MANY MANY MANY movies have offered the SAME thing without being quite so 'brazen'. Right? Wrong? That would certainly require each and every individual to 'search their OWN hearts' to determine an answer to this.

But, I will offer this: I find that the movie mentioned is little DIFFERENT than the 'Passion', 'Last Temptation', or even 'The Ten Commandments'. They are MOVIES. And ANYTHING that is NOT 'the truth' IS able to have an influence on those that partake of it's deceit.

I couldn't tell you how many 'Christians' I have heard make reference to the 'Ten Commandments' as if they believed that it was actually the story offered of Moses in The Bible. The Passion, while a very intense drama is STILL nothing more than a 'created story' BASED on The Bible. MOST of the ENTIRE movie was NOTHING other than 'artistic expression' capable of leading those that 'watch it' into a 'fasle belief' if they don't KNOW any better.

Folks, EVERYTHING that you 'expose yourself to' has an EFFECT on you. EVERYTHING. And we have been TOLD to refrain from exposing ourselves to that which is NOT righteous and wholesome. That MANY believe that there is NO harm in 'enjoying a movie' or 'watching a TV show' are often fooling themselves into a 'false sense of security' for the sake of ENTERTAINMENT. And NEVER have we been offered that 'entertainment' is MORE important than 'righteousness'.

Beware of the 'freedom' that you would TEACH yourself to ACCEPT and that which you would ALLOW your children to be TAUGHT through the 'trappings of this world'. Prudence is the ability to discern that which is edifying and avoiding that which is NOT.
