More On Our Spirit...And Seeking God

The spirit is truth (1 John 4:6), the spirit is life (John 6:63). The life of flesh is in the blood (Leviticus 17:14), so I think it a reasonable assumption that our spirit resides in our blood, and indeed, our very heart.

Awhile back, I was speaking on the forum about seeking God. We are instructed to...look to the unseen (2 Corinthians 4:18)...seek and ye shall find (Matthew 7:7-8)...and to seek first, the Kingdom of God (Matthew 6:33), and an odd thing happened. Well intentioned Brothers & Sisters warned me off from pursuing such an endeavor. It is occultic and I might just get myself into trouble, is what was said...presumably what was meant was that I might somehow accidentally conjure up an evil spirit or something like that. As if my plan was to go astral projecting and leave my body to supposedly seek the Lord. Admittedly, our Lord is not rational, logical or reasonable, because God asks for us to walk in faith and look to the unseen and to believe in what we can not see. Does that sound rational? Logical? No, it does not. It sounds a little spooky and new age type of thinking so the warning that I received was probably very much so well intentioned.

But down in the very core of my being, I felt that the warning was simply wrong. I knew it was wrong, but at the time, I did not have the words or knowledge to counter such statements. Well...I do now.

First of all, our Lord and the Kingdom of God, is not...out there, but is at hand (Matthew 3:2, 4:17, Mark 1:15). Now the term, at hand means, to come near or to draw nigh and join one unto another. That, does not even sound like it is, out there. Our spirit is inside of us and we can not of our own accord bring our spirit outside of us. But we do know that the Holy Spirit dwells within us and also bears witness (talks) to our spirit. So, it is within us that we will find our Lord. It is not outside of us but in me and beside me...

Yet, Jesus said "that which is flesh is flesh, and that which is spirit is spirit." He is making a distinction between flesh and spirit, and by saying that, He is saying that spirit can't be defined by anything having to do with the physical body. It's a completely separate issue.

You aren't the first one who has theorized on where the spirit resides. It's merely a distraction on what the real issues of life are. We know the spirit is in the body (2 Cor. 5:6). Beyond that, there are no specifics, and speculating on it is a distraction from the important issue, which is the salvation of people.

Therefore, looking to things unseen has to do with having an eternal viewpoint, identifying with citizenship in heaven, making sure you are practicing the virtues of Christ, glorifying God, and things of this nature.

Edward I agree with what you have written here.

The kingdom of God is within you, Luke 17:20. 21, and life is truly in the blood that was shed for all to make atonement for our soul, Leviticus 17:11. The blood is our life source physically and spiritually so life is in the blood. The spirit reveals itself in the soul, the soul lives and moves in the blood, but yet the soul is something distinct from it as the soul makes up the conscious part of ones being which is that of thought, action and emotion. The spiritual nature of man regarded as immortal and separable from the body/flesh at death . Genesis 9:4-6, Romans 8:7-9.

Romans 8: 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. 9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

Many look for a kingdom of God that is beyond reach being a physical place somewhere beyond our universe, but that is not so as scripture says the kingdom of God is within us. Our body is made up of three components being body, soul and spirit. Now this made me remember something. A testimony that I watch a few years ago on youtube. I forget who it was but as they were giving testimony of being in the Throne room of God, they said that God the Father was there on His throne and it was said that as the Father sat there and breathed...on exhale a new living spirit came from within Him. I went wow when I pictured that but I've never talked about it or brought it up because I didn't want to look like a fringe kook or something, lol. I had no scripture for such a thing...but it is in there! It's what you just said, and I still can't recall the reference for it but I do remember reading what you said! I just never connected the two! How about that!

Exodus 33:20 And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.

John 20:29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

God said that no one can see His face and live as the brightness of His glory is so brilliant it would be like looking directly into the sun. Jesus being the brightness of God could no man see until He came in the flesh of man. When Christ returns He said that every eye will see Him coming in all His glory, but we will see Him in His glorified body as being the same as when He ascended up to heaven. That same glorified body that Thomas saw and believed.

Jesus showed himself to around 500 people when God raised Him from the tomb to show what He said about being raised from the grave had been fulfilled in what He had taught. They saw Jesus face to face, but no one else ever has since He ascended up to heaven. No one knows what Jesus looks like, but when He returns our spirit will know Him.

I agree with what you said, except for this:

There's too much scripture to back this up. We are early in the morning of the 7th day since creation, the Sabbath. And as was the Lord's custom, He was in the synagogue teaching on the Sabbath day (Luke 4:16)...and, we are the temple now.

And, John 14:21
21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.../

This is talking about before the day of the Lord. It probably is part of Him pouring out His Spirit upon all flesh in the last days. So uh, there may be some false testimonies floating around, there is too many of them to think that Jesus has been seen by no one. He will appear and visit believers and it is already taking place. All of those testimonies can not be all lies. No way.

Yes, we are the temple of God within our spirit were the Spirit of God dwells as God can not dwell in this sinful flesh., 1 Corinthians 3:16, 17.

In the OT God spoke directly to His prophets, but never face to face, or sent angels as He gave them the words to speak. We know Moses had to hide his face when God passed before him. In the NT the disciples had Jesus with them face to face until He ascended up to heaven. Paul's encounter was hearing the voice of Jesus, but not seeing His face, but that of a bright light as he fell to the ground.

Acts 1:11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

Jesus still sits at the right hand of God and has never come down to appear to anyone since His ascension into heaven. God is pouring out His Spirit on all flesh as we see this more and more, even in these types of testimonies. I wouldn't say there are false testimonies, but those that only think in their mind and want to believe they say Jesus, but more than likely saw His brightness and heard His voice like I have on a few occasions.
