Despite best efforts to create a return to American manufacturing, what now appears to be kicking in are job losses, and this can have a snowballing effect that builds momentum as it goes.

And our good friend AI is staged to replace a LOT of the labor force in the future.

The CEO of an AI company is openly admitting this now, despite it not being in his best interest. Thought-provoking and profound video.

At the same time Costco is opening more stores. So, hopefully things will work out over time. I'm not predicting--just hoping! ;)

Hey, at least the Walton family will be fine. They don't loose anything when the store closes, and the tax breaks they'll receive in the big beautiful bill will certainly benefit them, but the idea of it trickling down? That ship has sailed.

I must say, it's not like people were not warned this would happen. People were told that the tariffs would be inflationary, but they rather chose to believe the lie that China would be paying the cost of the tariff, just as they believed Mexico would pay for the wall.

Where is this headed to? Well, if history is any type of indicator, another great depression. Just as the tariff act of 1930 did. The 1930's saw a rise in fascism, and a genocide too, history repeats itself. Maybe judgement falls upon each generation, visiting the sins of the fathers upon the sons?

So are the smaller stores like Dollar General. What's happening is adaptation to the new conditions. But watch the video in Post #2. AI and automation is becoming a necessity for a lot of these companies now as they adapt, so even when new stores are opening they will be opening with more and more automation, and less and less people actually working.

Don't misunderstand, I'm a very optimistic fellow, but that's because I have Christ. I am optimistic about what He is going to be doing in my life, no matter what the economy is doing. But for those who are putting their hopes in the things of this world and depending on that? Such people are in serious trouble IMO, and the worst part is that many of them don't even see it yet.

Something akin to it, I think, but with stranger circumstances. It's being controlled. In other words, I think this is being engineered all the way down, like a giant societal experiment. But here is the real problem, and this was prophesied to come, btw. I can provide the quotes later maybe: When increasingly larger percentages of the population are jobless and moneyless with nothing to do, time on their hands, and increasingly disillusioned and discontented, what will they do? They will do what they have always done throughout human history. They will riot. They will take to the streets in protest, and when things get ugly enough they will start destroying everything in their path.

That will do even greater wonders for local economies.

Again, I'm optimistic in Christ. For the world's sake, not so much.

America the beautiful, the envy of the world. A constitution and a government of the people, by the people, and for the people. But that nation is no more. The government is now of the corporation, by the corporation, and for the corporation, while your leaders decimate the government of the people, calling them the deep state. Your leaders write laws on behalf of the corporation, and your judges rule on behalf of the corporation. Meanwhile the peoples argue and debate the merits of trans people and the less fortunate while the ruling class does nothing for the people.

When I think of America, I often think of this scripture...

Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not: Fear ye not me? saith the LORD: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it? But this people hath a revolting and a rebellious heart; they are revolted and gone. Neither say they in their heart, Let us now fear the LORD our God, that giveth rain, both the former and the latter, in his season: he reserveth unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest.
Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you. For among my people are found wicked men: they lay wait, as he that setteth snares; they set a trap, they catch men. As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and waxen rich. They are waxen fat, they shine: yea, they overpass the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not judge. Shall I not visit for these things? saith the LORD: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land; The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?

Yes, that's often the case now.

What is destroying my peace (with this world) is what's happening in CA, my old home. People holding up Mexican flags and burning Ameican flags to protest the arrest of illegal criminals?????

But yes, I read about the Dollar General situation. I really enjoyed visiting them when I was in the South--they were on almost every other block! Friendly folks--why on earth would they be going out of business?

It kind of hits home because my cousin and aunt had a grocery store that they built themselves, and had to work hard and even sue larger chain grocery stores who tried to put them out of business. I want to see the smaller Mom and Pop operations continue indefinitely, along with the big chains. But something smells in Denmark (well, I shouldn't say that since I have Scandinavian blood in me! ).

They can be astonishingly cheap sometimes. I buy my Christmas cards from one of those smaller chains. Forgot which one atm, but I buy hundreds of them because of my paper route, and I literally save hundreds of dollars that way every year now.

lord I don't miss that . accountant after I left told me I really didn't make much on that .looking back yup beat my Nissan to death .had I not know how to maintain it it would have never even made what little . I refuse to use ,used tires . cheap parts I tracked what I did replace and how long . uber ,etc and such like you really don't make much .plus well if insurance finds out it's jail time .commerical use is a requirement and they ask that when you get quotes. plus the loss of the vehicle equity .I have a stick shift .I ate tires ,belts and front end parts .lots of oil changes .plus a few lights .

I don't miss that .no holidays ,no days off . not even on Sunday. I had to pay a sub .I did that for 13 years . 06 to 2018. people quit I got extra additions .I can still rattle off city meter routes that I had parts of or all of .

mcansh park ,St Helens ,press journal route ,flc route library route ,water Ford lakes route ,high school route ,fire station route ,city hall route ,piper route ,library route ,jail route ,hospital route ,credit Union route ,taco bell route ,press journal route ( the very paper I through was in a building I would read meters on ,patio route ,in town out west route ,31 St to 34 th Ave route ,34 th to 38 th Ave route .

I would drive all that before I left for four hours delivering only about two hundred papers daily . plus that once a week magazine bull crap. ,

Pick up your paper bundles and and two different insert bundles you get to insert , fun , fun , LOL . I just helped I was still in middle school .

Wife once took a phone book delivery job , she regretted that one . I helped her on my off days . People were in the yard when we stopped to deliver phone book and said , " Ya'll must have been desperate for money to do this ." :Haaah

lol.

imagine the same customers that I had as a paper route then call in a miss paper .gannet charged 2 dollars before that with treasure Coast it was five bucks . and you physically see them grab the paper as you read the route .I ratted those guys out . I was tempted to add several numbers to their electric usage .I could easily add a few dollars more and they nor my boss would notice it. last two numbers simply need to be changed .I never did. miserly elderly customers who didn't get their coupons .or the cross word .

I had one customer who called me somehow and was a dementia patient probably and accused Me of never delivering and I was one block on the mcansh park route and had me yelling over my phone at her .she idiotically claimed that she never got the paper as her neighbor who I only delivered the nyt with weds and Sunday with the press journal in his tube .to get to get house at my angry power walk ? I would yell the whole way and have been arrested .i can power walk very fast when I'm mad enough to get routes done nearly running . being where I was on the mcansh park route and she was on the credit Union route .probably less then a minute as I was on Atlantic Blvd and she off 28th Ave in cul de sac . she was so bad that the DM had to take over with her.i sent him photos of delivery . one in the tube ,one by the door and one hanging from the tube .

I carried a metal rod for opening meter boxes . I knew the addresses as I still do on several of the listed routes many no longer served by the utility that I listed . electric only areas of Waterford lakes

Im glad I didn't act on that lady .she has since passed . I read the credit Union since and before the sale of the grid and her name wasn't on the machine . I have had decent customers recognize me while reading and say don't you deliver my paper ? or ask me to place it elsewhere .

fronts and Inserts. some roll as they drive .I rolled on the hood of my truck and tossed them in the cab set them up as I wanted .I put specials on the dash or bed .big paper days the bed ,cab would be full and the specials by the passenger seat .

1436 old Dixie hwy . one demand meter for the owner who charged by his own meter bank to the customer ,malls do this often ,save restaurants that are not in the food court or anchor stores .
I got angry .I had rants to the DM over corp bs.i should pull that flipping meter ,add a few digits . oddly I would deliver non payments to them with glee .pay your usage or be cut off .I enjoyed that .

payback for those bs charges .

i just left that paper and the journalist that wrote that laughed when I said I was a carrier .I glad I left of that is how gannet thought of it's own customers and carriers . they short changed the papers . they shoot themselves in how they. dragged ,gannet wasnt the only one ,a decent paper done .I'm old enough to know the history of how the press journal came to be and it's founder was one of first city post masters and pioneer .

the family still live in the county . locals ditched that rag today over it's liberal leaning .I nearly called out that day .I read a third of that route so that well I'm done ,so sorry can't talk to me .

Oh the memories! Here's a "winner" for you. I did an extra-$ job working for the Dept. of Agriculture, putting down 500 Japanese Beetle traps. Try coming home after having a Rottweiler hanging off your leg. ;) (I exaggerate slightly.)
