Moved back outwest. New problems.

Hello.

I am back in alberta. Job is great...accomodation is not.

The company has me in staff accomodation sharing a room with another person. So far there is not one place avalible to rent in town, to make matters worse it looks like my dog is gonna be stuck in Nova Scotia for some time. 99% of people who rent rooms/apartments here do not allow dogs.

How the heck am i going to get him housed out here :crazy

I am contemplating modding a large van or buying a truck camper and living out of there so i can bring the dog up here. That option $ucks but seriosly what options do i have? I would still have use of the staff accom laundry/storage and own private washroom but my bed would be in a vehicle.

I can't go back to my old home in NS because there is literally no work, my entire family is thinking of moving now. So i am stuck here for the moment.

I am going crazy and i have only been here for a few days. I had to sell my drums, jeep and most of my firearms to stay afloat so now the only thing i have left would be my dog.

life $ucks :lol

What ideals do you guys have?

John,

I'm really sorry for your troubles. I will be praying for you.

:pray

Are you sure that they can legally prevent you from having a dog? I believe that in Ontario, landlords are simply not allowed to deny tenancy based on pets, unless the landlord can make a case that the animal is a disruption. In short, the "burden of proof" is on the landlord.

I too will be praying for you.

I think we have a similar thing in Australia. As annoying as it is, fair enough though.

Thanks everyone.

Yeah i had to sell em. O well. My next kit will be even better :D

If i could find some legal loop hole then i would be laughing. However most landlords that i have talked to all say that you can't have a dog because they are disruptive....I thought that was what the damage deposit was for??

EDIT: i just did a quick Google search and aparantly landlords in Alberta are allowed to phrohibit pets as they see fit.

Same thing here. Landlords can prohibit pets, skoking, whatever.it's their property. It's best to keep looking around til you find some pet friendly landlords.

Thats the think Brian. There are only 3 apartment complexes here in Jasper and all 3 of them do not accept pets. That leaves only rooms. And most of those do not allow pets either. The ones that do are held on to dearly to the people renting them because finding the place in the first place is like winning a lottery.

Yes. However due to the geographical location of Jasper any mobile homes hover around 350,000$ and you will never own the land...I can't pull that one off making only 12.50$/hr

After sleeping on it i think a good plan would be to sit tight and endure untill i can rack some cash up then request a transfer to another company property outside of this tourist trap..perhaps Peace river or Slave lake..i'd prefer to stay away from Fort Mac and Edmonton, lol Peace river and Slave lake have bigger houseing markets. For example a 3 bedroom mobile home goes for around 50k instead of 350k.

too bad you couldnt afford to buy a home. when i bought my house that was the only way i could keep my dog.

I would never be able to get one in jasper. A small house goes for arounf 750,000k here. If i got a transfer to another property in slave lake or peace river the houseing problem may be less. But a transfer to those locations would destroy my lifestyle. This whole thing is like a toss up over my life..i got my Job, my dog or my lifestyle i can only have one :verysad

Sorry to hear about that.

That home owners insurance crap is ridiculas :crazy They want you to pay more because they are ignorant about dogs

its due to lawsuits from those that are being bitten by certain breeds. i agree with you, all dogs can be made mean or friendly.

my dog is usually thought of as being mean, but when it comes up to people it just wants to be petted.its worthless as a guard dog. unlike sasha.

bah, alaska. man up to the heat and move to Florida, no anti-gun laws here :D and you could easily find some house to rent to keep hunter, though it wont be cheap.

my dog is already looking for another shephard. i knew that he would look
