Ugh 😑

I need to lose a considerable amount of weight. It’s strange…just a side note 📝: I’m no longer sick sickly prematurely aged etc…

But I got fat. I’m frustrated with it but not going…well, crazy…because of it.

I don’t think my weight gain is directly caused by the atypical tranquilizer. My doctor 👨‍⚕️ says it’s a lot less likely to cause weight gain than other atypical tranquilizer drugs and easier to tolerate than most other tranquilizer medications especially vs the older ones.

My cholesterol is somehow only slightly elevated. I’m 40 now so I’m prescribed a statin. Triglycerides and other things are ok ✅ apparently….

I just need to shed pounds like whoa 😳.

I dunno 🤷 I’m trying to think of it as an opportunity to learn better ways to…well live really but definitely make better more rational food and beverage choices…

I don’t do fast food. I don’t drink much soda. I don’t drink alcohol.

I do think 🤔 that the tranquilizer prevents me from feeling full. It’s weird.

Ok ✅ any suggestions or advice?

This is not me going on a very low calorie diet etc. I’m aiming to be near the target weight range in 1 year. I’m just…frustrated.

To loose weight one has to restrict ones intake of food that causes fat while also raising the amount of energy being spent.
Simple when written down but so hard to do.

A nag, join weight watchers or some similar organisation.
Two reasons.
1, they give you very good advice about what to eat and advice on exercise.
2, the weekly weigh in sessions keep one on track and meeting and talking to others as one queues for the weigh in is encouraging. ( it's about socialising, again )

Failing that look for a weight watchers cook book and work out a weekly menu that will reduce your calorie intake.
Eat smaller meals that are heavy on veg, low on meat and sauces.
Try to exercise get a perimeter and see if you can do 10,000 steps plus a day.
Strictly no snacks, but allow your self weekly treats.

My wife joined weight watchers and this was the basic method and doing it she reached her goal weight.
It was hard disciplined work, unfortunately she's relapsed and after several years put the weight back on.

Go for it, even if you don't join working out a menu, cooking from scratch and taking more exercise will make your life more interesting.

Simple things can work . Eliminate refined starches , bread , crackers , chips , pasta 🍩 . Eliminate refined sugar .
Increased fiber intake can help with fullness . Increase or add activities like , walking , weight training , swimming , Pilates . There is the popular Keto diet too .

My doctor prescribed a medication for weight loss but it looks like it probably won’t be covered. Oh well. I honestly think it’s mostly excessive food intake and I had bad paranoia so getting out and exercising was not really possible. But now…

Less paranoid better living situation and my worst food habits are probably easily fixable. So…

I think 🤔 I appreciate that doctors are seeing that serious weight loss is difficult and medicine can sometimes help but…

On a personal level I think I can do this with God’s help and some new habits…

Look at the side effects and reviews too . This is not one of those that you have to take for the rest of your life or the weight just come back is it ?

You do not have to leave the house to exercise . Remember Richard Simmons , sweating to the oldies :biggrin2 .

when I was in daycare the ladies were always on some kind of diet. They often made us do sweatin to the oldies as an activity.

Not a big fan of Richard Simmons…

lol 😆

A lot of it is getting my appetite under control. Eek 😬
I know that feeling.
I think I was born without an "OFF" switch for my appetite.
Or maybe it was the Full" switch ?
But I became diabetic and had to really change my attitudes about food intake.
Because I shoot-up insulin 4 times a day, I started a dining and dosing notebook so I could watch the results of what I ate.
After a few years, (40 now), I know that I need 7 units of insulin to eat at McDonalds.
But if I haven't done any sort of exercise/work that day, I require 8 or 9 units of insulin for the same meal.
That prompts me to do more moving around.
I want to do as little insulin as possible, so I do morning exercises (15-20 minutes on the floor) 4X a week.
A 5th day I work very hard at a food bank, and then two days off !

When they start giving you satins and stuff, please remember the over-drugging your previous doctors put you through.
With your good cholesterol, trigl's and HDL/LDL, exercise will free you from the drugs.

Just walk around the block after eating.
Even half way around the block will make a difference !!!!

Be healthy !

Thank you 🙏

Diabetes…eek. Thank goodness you manage it well.

Statins…weird thing? I started with…quoting the doctor here…slightly elevated cholesterol. Slightly?!? But it’s a numbers game and it’s all about drugs into people. That really seems to be what medicine is about. I dunno 🤷‍♂️

I appreciate that they have various medications for weight loss now but again: drugs into people. I was at an appointment with the doctor to discuss my labs. They were all normal. So he asks if I have any concerns and I say weight loss? And boom 💥 another prescription. It’s not just him…it really does seem to be how medicine is practiced.

Thanks again…

Drugs or exercise.
You have to decide which road you want to hoe.
Exercise is cheaper, and more fun.

Start slow, three separate movements. 5 Push-ups, 5 sit-ups, 5 rear leg extensions (from an all fours).
That should take less than 3 minutes.
I do mine before breakfast.
When I started my routine, it was with 10 pushups.
I got up to 80 (after 7-8 years) before arthritis wrecked my wrists.
