When I read some of the deep theological discussions here, most of the time, all I get out of them is:

mark, i know. when i talk to jeff over the phone we get more done with our discussion. case in point that genesis thread.

I know what you mean.:chin
Although, the thing that got me interested in this site was a thread I read through discussing a scripture. It wasn't really a theological thread, though. But I did think that particular thread was helpful.

It's a total blast... and the journey from beginner to moderately experienced driver has been a lot of fun. Been there four times this year and over a dozen times since 2009. Click the link in the very bottom of my sigline!

I find THOSE threads most helpful! But the in-depth back and forth discussions where two posters are tearing a few verses apart and coming up with OH, SO different meanings.... on, boy. Makes me ask, "God, why did you write the book such that we have so much to interpret, argue and disagree about?"

You see, the above is the point of my post. I question God Himself - WHY does the word of God leave us so confused? So much of it seems to mean different things to different readers.

I want to know why this is. Is it us? Is it intentional? Does it please or displease God that this goes on?
I'm 52 and have been in Sunday School for 37 years and I don't understand why His book is written in such an (if you will let me say this) obtuse way.

I know in my heart that this is intentional. I simply KNOW it, but I don't understand why.

So I'm not the only one then...
I joined this site to try to strengthen my faith. Reading those kind of discussions does the opposite.

One has to wonder whether some of this has to do with Satan trying to muddy the waters.

because there are things god doesnt want us to know and to keep looking.

we could do the names of God and i suggest with the simple four letters.YHWH. without going to jewish sites or sources , tell me what does it mean to you? theres no wrong answers so long as one isnt too whacky with it.

i shall start. I am. that is without going to the jewish sources., theres more if i could. but in a nutshell I AM works too.

Add my voice as one who has experienced the same questions.

One of the very sad aspects to the on-going 'yes, it is' and 'no, it isn't' debates: these have been occurring for centuries. And I'm sure they will continue to be debated for centuries to come.

I like your avatar is very much. i will submit anathor avator.

Centuries? You apparently don't know much about what the Bible says about the imminent return of Christ.

(Hee, hee, hee, hee...)
