My Stance on Divorce

My Stance on divorce.

Please do not hate me because of this.

God and His angels gathered. The devil and his demons gathered. The world gathered too. Birds and animals were alert that day. Even inanimate objects could bear witness. And the woman and man said: I do!

They have no idea what they did when they said: I do.

Divorce! I hate it as much as God hates it. I call divorce an unjustified act of selfishness.
The usual excuse and so-called justification they have is s/he was found guilty of adultery - and I had to kick her/him away.
Just that? SELFISHNESS!!! People want comfort.
Most of the divorce cases today are not even based on the adultery thing. People do whatever they want.

God didn't divorce us when we sinned against Him. He had to draw us back to Himself.
God asked His own prophet to marry a whore. Hosea obeyed God and married a whore!!! The adulterous wife went after other men. What did God do?

Hosea 3 "Then theLORD said to Hosea, Go and get your wife again Bring her back to you and love her, even though she loves adultery..."

We can still keep him or her when s/he commits adultery! Why always refering to what Paul said??? :dunno :shrug :confused Paul didn't say you must file a divorce.

Just recently a woman divorced the husband. I admire the father of this girl alot. And the family members are true Christians!!! :sad

Again the host of heaven gathered! The kingdom of darkness gathered! Animals gather! Non living things gathered! What's going on? A man and a woman have brought them together? They said: we are no more husband and wife! We are going our separate ways!!!

And the devil and his party members looked at God and said: "God, what happened to your Genesis 2:24 command? :chin :toofunny

Your parnter dies and you got married again... That's a different thing altogether.

Ephesians 5:33
Nevertheless let each individual among you also love his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see to it that she respect her husband.

In a perfect world you wouldn't need divorce but you can see the problem already.

I am not pro divorce (my parents are divorced and it was not a pleasant experience) but there are cases where divorce is justified; abuse for example. People do get divorced too quickly though

I'm all with you on this. I just celebrated my 11th anniversary to my one and only! People don't seem to want to endure hard times, nor do they put up much of a fight with temptation, and even more so, don't seem to go into marriage fully committed.

That being said, you may want to reconsider your stance a little with this verse:

<dir>Jer 3:8

And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.
</dir>
I'm not saying "Change" your stance.... Perhaps just consider the verse.

Thanks for that verse. :wave

Abuse? I think that goes for an unbeliever. Unbelieving couples may be justified to do whatever they want. A Christian who deliberately abuses the wife or husband... What kind of Christian is that? :shrug

Christians aren't perfect as history has sadly shown countless times. To say Christians don't abuse is frankly naivety and ignorance.
