What are peoples thoughts on it? I have the book, read quite a bit of it, very mystical in its approach. I'm quite interested on what you guys think.
Cheers...

Lloyd, while the people who wrote the nag hammadhi library were well meaning folks, the fact of the matter is they were deceived by satan. satan always mixes truth with error to woo people away from the one true gospel. If I was you I'd throw that book away and never look at it again. It is not of God, it came out of the gnostic movement, which denied the true identity of Jesus.
It may look good, but it'll contaminate your true faith in the gospel.
Stick to the bible!!!

I understand what you mean. Over the past few years I think I've read too much of a variety of stuff and it can get confusing. Have either of you read books by Parahmansa Yogananda, Phil Yancey - I'd really appreciate your opinion?
Just before I joined this site, I was pretty desperate, as if I'd hit a brick wall. Now, I feel full of life and I thank God. I'm reading the Bible daily again, and finding inspiration, understanding a bit more.
Do either of you know of any good books though, that don't pull me away from the truth? I know the Bible is 'the' book, but I enjoy reading others too. I just want to make sure I'm still on the right path
Cheers...

Hey Lloyd,
I've read Parahmansa Yogananda's Autobiography of a Yogi, but not the book above. He tells his life story, etc. I've even been to a "church" service at one of his "churches" (I know he's dead) and tried Kriya Yoga etc. Again, well meaning and lovely man, but misled by the evil one. All religions besides Christianity as the bible teaches it, are of the evil one. Remember, satan disguises himself as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14). Most all these religions have a lot of truth in them but just enough error to keep you away from the one true gospel, the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who died for our sins and rose again for our justification and is risen to heave and seated at the right hand of the Father.
I just want to make sure, you have given your life to Jesus Christ right? You do believe the Bible to be God's Word? I'm pretty sure the answer is yes, but I wanted to make sure.
I will try to think of some other books for you to read. Right off the top of my head I can recommend "Driven by Eternity" by John Bevere and "The Invisible War" by Chip Ingram. I can probably suggest more later, I just can't think of any others at the moment. Oh, and "More Than Conquerors" by Terry MIze, a short but EXCELLENT book. "To Know Him" by Gloria Copeland is also an EXCELLENT book.
Be Blessed!

Lloyd81,
Without knowing your personal interests in the different genres and topics, it would be hard for me to say. Here's a link to a website I go to when searching for a particular book, author, or browsing for something new. http://christianbookreviews.net/
It has a big database. Down the middle, you have new highlights, and down the right side you can look into different genres, categories and authors. Not only is it a site with Christian books, but it gives reviews. These are important to read, because among the authors are names like Dan Brown. It lists his books with descriptions, but if you click on the REVIEW button, you will find they point out the terrible flaws in his stories and his supposed knowledge of the Church. In that sense, it's even a better site than some, because it will expose books and authors that might appear to be Christian but aren't and recommend books are are truly Christian. :amen
My only wish is that it reviewed older books as well. There are some timeless classics that are decades old that don't show up. If it were me, I would throw away the book you have, not even give it away. But you paid for it, and obviously that's your decision.
