Okay, sorry if this is the wrong place to put this.

But i have talked to some non Christians about God. And the same question always comes up and it always stumps me... It is, "how could God let innocent people die in natural disasters, such as Hurricane Katrina?" It stumps me every time...

Isaiah 45:7 (ESV) I form light and create darkness, I make well-being and create calamity, I am the Lord, who does all these things."

Amos 1:3-4 (ESV) 3 Thus says the Lord: “For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not revoke the punishment, because they have threshed Gilead with threshing sledges of iron. 4 So I will send a fire upon the house of Hazael, and it shall devour the strongholds of Ben-hadad.

Amos 3:6 (ESV) Is a trumpet blown in a city, and the people are not afraid? Does disaster come to a city, unless the Lord has done it?

Is God sovereign or not? If so, then nothing whatsoever happens without God directly causing it immediately, or allowing it to happen mediately. So, these verses have always worked for me :)

blessings,
ken
