Don't Deviate From Your Course

My old pastor once gave us an analogy about naval ships during wartime and how they sometimes encountered fog. Past experience had taught them not to impulsively veer off or change course but rather sail through till they got to the other side. This strategy saved a lot of unnecessary disasters at sea...

The Lord reminded me of this story again as I prepared for some challenges ahead. As Christians, we can be a little impulsive sometimes and want to just jump into anything that seems to be "of God" or take a direction that we had not thought through very well.

I will never forget my pastor's lesson in church that morning because it has always helped me stay steady when encountering unforeseen circumstances. If you do not know what direction to take, "don't change directions." Keep going forward until you get through to the other side and can see clearly or until God opens a door. Glory!

Glory to God, sister. I developed this mindset after years of walking with Christ. I started to know what the will of God was for my life in certain areas, and yet things were almost never easy. Seemed like there was always opposition of some sort going on at all times. But once I knew the will of God for my life, nothing would make me veer off course. Nothing. I would just keep coming, I'd encounter obstacle after obstacle, and sometimes see no progress at all, but I would keep my face set to accomplish what the Lord had called me to do.

I think in Christ we develop a Divine determination that will not be denied. It's like Christ in us becomes greater than every obstacle, and no amount of evidence to the contrary is enough to convince us to let up on what the Spirit of God has called us to do.

Two words, trust and faith. Through all the unknown we face everyday we need to listen and be obedient to the leading of the Lord in whatever direction He lays before us.

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
Proverbs 3:6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Heb 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
