With the exception of Adam and Eve and Noah and his wife, marriage was always recognized legally in the Scriptures... Sarah was Abraham's wife, Hagar his concubine.
Marriage needs to be legally binding... for the protection of women mainly.
sorry about not posting a link to my bomb drop but, yes they hid dialogue within this law that will hurt a minimum of 1 million children in the state of NC (where I reside). My beloved niece and nephew will no longer be covered because, my sister recently divorced her alcoholic husband who was freeloading off her...
They had banners outside Charlotte churches urging people to vote for this... I am very disappointed not in my brothers in Christ but, the lawmakers who hid this from our people...
By the article you posted, you'll have to help me understand how your sister will be effected. According the the article, it states:
potentially impacting health care and legal safeguards for all unmarried, cohabiting households.
We know many of our patients are in unmarried heterosexual partnerships that will be negatively affected by this amendment
I am not trying to be harsh, and it is very unfortunate that your sister married an abusive alcoholic. But there are consequences to sin, and those sins leave a wake of destruction behind them. Why does this happen? Because people are becoming more selfish and less committed to their obligations.... because there is always somebody else there... including the government that will come in and pick up their trash. In short, the consequences are being minimized, so the behavior continues and gets worse.
Regardless, the bill looks like it's targeting couples with children that are not married. I mentioned earlier about a guy who makes 65,000 a year that I personally know. Do you think this is fair?
