Hello. I'm Sylvester, but you're welcome to call me Silver. I'm 49 and hail from Manhattan in the great state of New York. My interests include philosophy, science, the inner workings of various security systems, and for those times when a razor-sharp wit and keen argument can't win a battle on their own, weaponry of all stripes. (While I've been accused of being a ladies' man in my time, I consider the fairer sex more than a mere passing interest.) But I digress. A few of my friends were gossipping about this board a few nights ago, so I decided to see what all the fuss was about and join up as well. I hope the denizens of this forum don't mind. Let's have many a fruitful and mutually enlightening, and occasionally entertaining, discussion.

I appreciate the greetings, and also look forward to many debates. As I remarked earlier, I'm at my best in topics that touch on science and philosophy, although I've also dabbled in politics on occasion and can be considered a jack-of-all-trades.

I actually meant real-life firearms and swords by that "weaponry" comment, not belligerent computer programs. Neither would I ever use them, except in vitally necessary self-defense, and even then I'd first take into account the possibility of wounding innocent bystanders. Thus, you really have nothing to fear. Online, wit and logic is my only rapier. ;)
