new user question

My apologies if this is the wrong place to post this question.

As a new user, I have some difficulty in determining the link between posts in individual threads. In another forum I have used, it is possible to see the posts in a tree-like format. Is that possible here? If not, are there any tricks to tracking posts and replies?

You can change your settings to have the site alert you when someone responds to a post/thread you have made..

I use the email option, in the User Control Panel, so that when someone replies to a thread I have replied to (watched) then I get an email.
You can also, on the front page, "view new posts"

Welcome, physicist. Still post at CARM or you get banned too?

Anyway, I never used the tree view. I've always preferred linear view. It's pretty easy to keep track-especially when people use the quote feature. As for knowing when there's replies, you can check the new posts link, and/or you can subscribe to threads.
