If an apology is needed, I will gladly give it.

The discussion of Catholicism seems to be a cause of stress around here, and with risk of being bonked on the head I will ask a question anyway. Even though I am adequately educated about Christianity, I am not a Christian myself and consequently don't have an inside view. So without further ado...

Why are not Catholics considered Christians?

Is it because of the Virgin Mary? This puzzles me because I once went abroad with a Catholic church group. Like I said, I'm not Christian (but for sure not atheist), and I was not looking forward to lots of prayers to Mary (who is not a deity in my opinion).... but there weren't any. We did lots of praying and all of it was to Jesus. I was puzzled then, too but of course it wasn't the right time to ask questions about that.

So I'm asking here. Hmmm....

There is much heated debate about that question in that not all believe Catholics aren't Christian. And due to that fact the topic "seems to be a cause of stress around here".

Don't take offense but to keep the peace and forego further "cause of stress around here" I'm afraid I'll have to lock this topic.
