This is so sad :sad
During Calgary's run for the cup I really got into hockey, and was really dissapointed when I heard that there was a lock-out. A friend of mine said that it could go for a couple years!! :o Hopefully not!

What do you think?

reply

yes, I got more excited with Calgary's run as well.... I'm not too terribly upset though, because we have college football right now, and thats all I care about this time a year 8-)

I could care less for football

Although if you are playing it I'm sure it's more interesting than just watching it. There are many sports that I can't stand to watch, but love to play :-D

never played football - love watching
never played hockey - like watching
played basketball - ok watching
loved playing soccer - boring to watch
played baseball - alright to watch

Baseball: Love to play, boring to watch.
Hockey: love to play and watch
Football: Love to play...it's okay to watch I guess, but it wouldn't be my first choice.

Golf: Never played, BORING to watch
Soccer: Love to play, boring to watch
Volleyball: LOVE to play AND watch

:-D

Yeah Golf. I'm a christianity major, I think a semester of Golf is required. :-D Mini-golf is much more fun though. As to the others.

Hockey: Nevered played, okay to watch
Basketball: I loved playing, I do enjoy watching it, but only in the live setting.
Football: Love playing, like watching. I would have played in H.S., but I was needed in the marching band.
Soccer: love playing, boring to watch
Baseball: like playing, okay to watch
Ultimate frisby: best sport ever 8-) , boring to watch
Volleyball: okay to play, fun to watch.

I love hockey. I grew up in a hockey crazy town.

The lockout is going to be long, but I doubt it will be 2 years.

The owners and NHLPA aren't even talking right now.

They ain't talking, and they aren't supposed to have another meeting till like December. But like the last long lock-out, it ended in January of the same year and there was still a Stanley Cup run that year, I'm hoping they settle thier differances by then! :D

Yeah, Calgary was a pretty exciting place to be a few months ago. I think hockey is the best sport and funnest to watch. This lockout is going to hurt a lot of people.

I love watching Hockey Night in Canada--one team in particular. That said, I think the NHL is skating on very thin ice with an extended lockout, particularly in the US. I find it hard to be sympathetic to either side; it's millionaires vs billionaires. I also find it fishy that players are playing for less on another continent. After all, it's not about the money........is it?

I agree with you Vice...there is only one team worth cheering for ;) .

It is all about the money and I don't feel sorry for either side. But I do feel sorry for the millions of lost income for those who rely on a hockey season (arena workers, restaurant/bar workers, etc.). It so absolutely childish and selfish of both the owners and players, although mostly the players.

Still no agreement and they aren't talking.

I say the entire season is kaput. :sad

Baseball: alright to play, alright to watch... once a year.
Hockey: I adore watching!
Football: I'd luv it IF a 60 minute game didn't take 3-4 hours, bores me to death as it is.
Golf: I prefer putt-putt ;)
Soccer: Love to play, love to watch
Volleyball: Love to play, enjoy watching
MotoGP: oh my, does anything else compare?

I'm perfectly at ease with the hockey season being cancelled. There are so many non-NHL leagues out there that its great, they're getting some much deserved attention. Besides, they're WAY cheaper!

Still no deal, but they haven't cancelled the season - - - yet.

Who says there will be a next season? The Players Union and the owners have not budged in their demands - and that probably will not change.

I for one, am sick of the HUGE money involved in sports. you have to be filthy rich to be able to go to a game nowadays. If I wanted to go see the Avs play, if I could find tickets, the nose-bleed seats would be a minimum of $50. I'd rather watch college or semi-pro hockey, arena football or college football, AAA baseball - and you'd have to pay me $50 to go to an NBA game. :)

I'm with ya hun! Non-NHL hockey rocks! Heck, my local team even has Red Wing's members standing in :-D
Sad to say but the NHL set themselves up for this since hiring the latest commissioner.
