At what age in your culture/ or in your church does one considered an adult (no longer a youth - no longer a member of the youth ministry)? Strange that some of the young ones in my church don't associate with the youth - neither do they fall under the 'adult' (men/women ministry). They sit on the fence - almost partake in nothing:(

Pretty standard in the US, I think (though there might be exceptions) for the cutoff age to actually be high school graduation, whether that is 17 or 18. Then they start going to something similar to what our church calls the "college and career" class of singles, for the most part.

As to the youth who don't participate, they probably aren't getting any instruction at home, either. Their parents are just hoping something rubs off. But kids wandering the church halls during the Sunday school/bible study hours or the service hours isn't going to accomplish that.

from reading these forums some folks will always be YOUTH . . . is that good or bad?

I am surprised at the behaviour of young and old alike any more.... We were very respectful in service .. Folks did don't wonder around, have to have a cup of coffee etc... When we were small we ( kids in general) slept on a quilt under the pew at Moms feet. We did quietly play pencil and paper games if service was a bit long. I see this disrespect not only in church services but all around... We do not teach self control we teach self indulgence.

reba: Sometimes some adults walk in and out, in and out; it's no wonder when the young people take their cue from them.

I'm 58 and will always be a Toys~R~Us kid :yes It's a hard transition between being a youth one day and then expected to be an adult the next. As a youth I always went to youth fellowship meetings because they were fun, but after a certain age you had to go to the adult classes and as a youth I found them boring and soon quit going to Church all together for many years. It's good to see many Churches having young adult classes as it's a good transition and holds the attention span somewhat better.
