No salvation without ...

How do you know that someone has that love in their life?"

No my question was and still is how do you or anyone know whether someone has faith in Jesus ?

Lots of people talk about love, unfortunately they rarely calerify what they mean by love or what they are loving.
There are even people who claim to love God/Jesus but without obeying him.

Jesus did not talk about loving him, he talked about belief, who ever believes in me has eternal life.
James interestingly gets right to the heart of this.
He say show me your faith ( or love ) I by my works ( obedience ) will show you my faith.

I will answer my question for you.
Jesus says if you love me you Will Obey my Commands.
We know someone has faith in Jesus as their Saviour because they seek to obey him.

Someone can prattle about love, but if there life does not show practical change and striving to follow Jesus then there words are just that words.

Who Me my brother
I agree with most everything you said here, especially the last line that I quoted above.

But I still maintain, like I said before, that 99 and 9/10's of the time, I am, and should be, concerned about how I'm living my own life, and how am I doing about growing past the sins in my own life. and YES...I HAVE A SIN THAT EASILY BESETS ME - Hebrews 12: 1, and I am constantly aware of it and work on it DAILY, as everyone should be on theirs.

Others people lives are their own, and we should allow them the GRACE, as God has us, to live where they are, as they hopefully struggle to grow further, with our love and support and encouragement, to get them there.

If a brother or sister is struggling, then yes we should come beside them, but not to condemn them or chastise them, but to lovingly approach them and speak of your concerns in private and in LOVE.

God bless you my friend as we travel this sometimes difficult road together.

I do not totally agree that we should pray for God love to be poured out in our hearts. We already have it. Romans 5:5. "And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us."

We should walk in it. "Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma." Ephesians 5:1-2.

Walking in love is where we are all at. The more we walk in love, we grow in love. We should not pray that God give us love but that he should help us to excel in it. "And may the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another and toward all men, even as we do toward you" 1 Thessalonians 3:12

God teaches us. "But concerning brotherly love, ye have no need that I write unto you, for ye yourselves are taught by God to love one another;" 1 Thessalonians 4:9. That is how we grow and abound in love.

Couppy my dear sister in Christ

I am so glad you are here on this forum about GODLY LOVE.
Whether you agree with me or not, it's a MIRACLE that anyone can even be here.

For over 40 years I waited for a sermon or series of sermons on Gods love, or even a bible study, or some event focusing on GODLY LOVE.
IT NEVER HAPPENED.
BUT...by Gods grace and the heart he gave me to stand up and speak of Gods LOVE, the GREATEST GIFT TO MANKIND, the wonderful staff here saw a benefit in speaking on Gods love and created this forum on GODLY LOVE , and allowed me to set the tone and direction, and moderate this forum where we can speak of Godly love and kindness and bringing comfort and love to others, just like God does for us.

I am so glad your here and disagree with me, as it means your thinking about Godly love that needs to penetrate all our hearts in the way we are with all those around us.

God bless you for speaking your mind on LOVE. You just made my day!!!

I believe in God's love very much. I believe we have to walk in love. It is just about allowing it to flow out through us to others. That is where the problem is. We have to be a broken vessel to allow the love of God to flow unhindered.

Praying for it - as I said, I do not agree, for you do not ask for what you have received. You have the Spirit of love in you, why pray for God to give you his Spirit. "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law." Galatians 5:22-23.

You see, you cannot just sit down. pray, and then blame God for not answering our prayers if we do not show love. We have to allow the Spirit of God to manifest in and through us.

I just loved everything you said, especially, your statement I quoted above.

And may I add, that in all of our actions or lack of them, there is still FREE_WILL CHOICE to respond OR NOT, and although the Holy Spirit wants to MANIFEST HIS LOVE THROUGH US to others or to God Himself, we have to have a willing open heart for that to happen, and CHOOSE with great desire to let the Holy Spirit of LOVE speak through us, as did Philip to the ETHIOPIAN EUNUC.

CHOICE is still the great RUDDER that steers our life, and always will be.

God bless you Couppy

I believe you two are talking about the process of sanctification.

Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose. (Philippians 2:12-13)
