Here on the forum we've had many discussions as to whether or not Christians should smoke, drink, smoke pot, and do other things that harm the body, the temple of the Spirit.
Now we can add Tanning to the list.
Not saying that Christians should or shouldn't tan. That's between you and the Lord. Just saying to be aware of the risks to His temple.
Steve's uncle died of melanoma. It's a nasty, nasty way to go.
Now we can add Tanning to the list.
A new analysis of about 20 studies concludes the risk of skin cancer jumps by 75% when people start using tanning beds before age 30. Experts also found that all types of ultraviolet radiation caused worrying mutations in mice, proof the radiation is carcinogenic. Previously, only one type of ultraviolet radiation was thought to be lethal.
The new classification means tanning beds and other sources of ultraviolet radiation are definite causes of cancer, alongside tobacco, the hepatitis B virus and chimney sweeping, among others.

LONDON (AP)  Melanoma, the deadliest kind of skin cancer, is now the most common cancer in young British women, the country's leading cancer organization said Wednesday. Skin cancer has overtaken cervical cancer as the top cancer striking women in their 20s, according to the latest data from Cancer Research United Kingdom.
The trend is particularly worrying since younger people are not generally those most susceptible to melanoma. Rates of skin cancer are typically highest in people over age 75.
