last night I posted thank you my friends, I listed friends and thanked them and also thanked friends I did not list. The friends I thanked were people whom I had communicated with on the post about Divorce.

The reason I thanked others was because i did not go back to previous conversations but thanked them for taking time to spend time with me.

I have to be honest but I am a little dismayed today with some of the stuff I have seen posted on the topic about divorce/adultery.

What has dismayed me is not the different views but how we (yes I include myself because I went off on one and I'm truly sorry) have expressed ourselves.

I've seen comments along the lines off

Your being dishonest
Your twisting scripture
Go look at the bible your reading and make sure it's the right one (my interpretation)

Cut a long story short.

Come on friends let's express our thoughts in a different way. My interpretation is not twisting scripture it's my belief, I'm not being dishonest it's what I beleive. I'm not trying to trick anyone. I have 5 bibles that I use.

If at times we disagree let's agree to disgree but please don't let us make our fellow friend feel stupid, wrong.
Let's step aside and let Jesus step in.

I love debate.

It sharpens my Bible skills and memory.

But I hate it when people get emotional, refuse to pay attention, use ad hominem attacks and the like.

It means I'm not going to get a logical debate of the issues and it all becomes like a Republican party debate.

But I still love those who I debate with. I usually understand why they believe what they do. Often I have believed the same things.

But I know that it's difficult too. Jesus had conniption fits over the unbelief of the Jews. People don't want to give up beliefs even if miracles happen. Facts and reality don't measure up to miracles... But only if...

The thing is, the bible can say what anyone wants it to say.

I guess thats why Christ and the Apostles always talked about walking in love, they knew in the last days there would be many false teachers and doctrine floating around, and not enough people to feed the flock.

Im hungry for truth but I cannot trust anyone in these times because even they have some truth, they have some error. I dont want any error in bible interpretation. So I read the bible myself, and because im not a called Apostle and teacher, I become error.

“Ding! Ding! Round One”. This is what you hear when two fighters get into the ring to face off in a battle of who is the superior one. Unfortunately this is what is happening between Gods children as Christians are squaring off as trying to be the superior one in the word of God, but yet have no knowledge of truth, 2Timothy 3:7. Love and humbleness is now being replaced with anger and hostility towards each other as many love to argue and debate the word of God according to what they believe and choose to condemn those who are not in agreement with them.

We as a Christian have all been given the same gifts from God and those gifts are to be used to lift up and edify one another. The greatest gift of all is the gift of love that we should be displaying as a Christian to help draw all others unto Christ by allowing the love of Christ shine through us. Many people say they have accepted Christ, but by the fruits of their mouth God will judge their heart and condemn those who have only mirrored the words of repentance as they condemn themselves by what comes out of their mouths, Matthew 7:21.

It’s not this evil world or even the ruler of darkness that we need to be concerned about as this world will wax worse and worse, but we need to be concerned about how we are representing Christ to the world. There is an old saying that goes something like this that you can catch more flies with honey then you can with vinegar and if we want to draw those lost souls to the honey, or to the love of Christ, then we must display Christ in us and through us by allowing the love of Christ shine out to others, 2Corinthians 4:4; 1John 1:7.

1Peter 4:8 and above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.

Thank you for your kind words. Rest assured I won't give up on us as you say. We are us and I hope no one gives up on me. You are right, what we send typed does not reflect our voice or our eyes.

Hi my friend. Walking in love? How true and an aspiration to to aspire too. We can't go wrong when we aspire to walk that way. Jesus himself will work in us to walk that path.

Thinking about it, debate is not righteous at all, Christ didnt stand there arguing with people, the diciples wiped the dust off there feet, and Paul just handed them over to satan.

It must just be dicipline to be able to just walk away. Its way to easy to just want to let loose and argue with people to prove them wrong. Getting the last word is always a great satisfaction in self pride.

Christ was not one to argue. He was one to be kind and gentle but firm to the point. As the Disciples when the people rejected Christ, indeed the Disciples just walked away. To go to those that would be more receptive.

I think debate is healthy when it's done for the right reasons and the right way (following the proper rules of debate and avoiding logical fallacies). I've learned things from debating, had ideas challenged that I wouldn't have had challenged otherwise. The problem is when emotions and egos get in the way.

I hope you don't think I did that to you. I'm pretty sure I did not do that to you.
I reserve those kinds of comments to those who are, according to my own personal discernment (which I am entitled to), are really doing that.....except the last one. I don't think I've ever used that. To me it's not a good argument. I don't believe there is a 'right' Bible. I just think some are better than others.

Oh yeah, but please don't use those images in actual debates. I posted them because it puts some fallacies in a way that is easy to understand, but using the images in actual debates would probably make things more heated. Just explain why someone's reasoning is wrong in a nice way.
