I have this picture hanging in my dining room.
My thoughts are he has a wonderful relationship with Jesus.
But I notice he is alone.
At some point, he must have lost his wife.
Maybe no children, and now he is alone with Jesus until it's his time.
Kind of sad when I think it may be me some day if I outlive my wife.
I have no children.
I'm approaching 70 years old.
But also kind of joyful that I too could be faithful and stay close to Jesus until the end.

What do you think?

great thread - very encouraging - thanks

Thanks for sharing this.

This is Eric Enstrom painting entitle "Grace Man Praying Over Bread". I've always loved this picture as it's very humbling. It reminds me of a beautiful hearted old mountain man living in a cabin thanking God for what he has.

I believe we had a one on one meeting with Christ before we were sent down to this Earth and we were alone before Him. When we die, we will have another one on one meeting with Him. We will stand alone before Him then as well.

I like the picture too. Hey Allen , I'm married no kids and 62. I'm not as good a Christian as yourself and my wife is pretty much agnostic.
I think I will fall apart if or when my partner dies.

My grandparents had this picture as well over their dining table.
Except it was a cheaper copy and reversed the image.
But grace was said at every meal at that table.
And when I looked at it I always wondered what kind of soup was in the bowl and how that bread was made.
I knew that it wasn't a cabin in the woods but just some kind of inexpensive room he lived in.
And I also wondered why the book on the table... mamma and grandma would never let us do that while eating...we would have to put them up and wash our hands before we could eat.

Ramblings of a child's mind.

Then we are to keep you in prayer about that.
And listen, you pray to God that he will help bring you closer to him.
He will do it.
And pray the same for your wife.
God still does miracles, believe it.
