One suicide every 40 seconds

I use Lithium and it is safe, I have even been up to 1200 mg a day no problems before I got use to it I would get just slight hand tremors that is about it. But the stuff works.
The top rated Dr in the world on bipolarisim is Kay Redfield Jamison who uses lithium herself and has since 1974. I did not get a very good understanding of being Bipolar until I read her book A Quiet Mind, and boy did she go through it and do some crazy stuff because she is Bipolar too. But every mental disorder doctor on the planet knows who she is. If you want a good understanding of being Bipolar read her book A Quiet Mind.

Lithium is an element like Calcium and Magnesium, and as such I personally I can tolerate the idea of taking that more than a man-made drug. It could be some people lack that nutrient. Another good vitamin which we lack, but they call it "poisonous" is cholesterol. Actually, it's a pre-vitamin like beta-carotene. People low on cholesterol, and sunlight converting it, are often depressed. The whole medical/pharmaceutical world is severely messed up. That's the stuff they tell you to stay away from when I supplement on it. It's the same theme as spirituality. Satan's Kingdom vs God's Kingdom. And I can see it filtrating into the biological science world telling people to do what's opposite of what's healthy. God put these nutrients here for a reason.

BTW, iLOVE's reply is one of the more sane ones. That's what I'm trying to convey. The pastor of my ex-church is trying to get everyone on the "Daniel Diet". While I'm not a big fan of that diet, and it's taken out of context, the point I'm making is that he was tired of people dying of cancer, cancer, cancer and they HAVE BEEN following doctors' orders, trying to live right, and are sicker than ever. Like that woman in the gospels with the issue of blood tried many physicians, but only needed to touch the hem of his garment. Such is the delusion of the devil (Revelation 12:9). Yes.... even most of Christianity, is, well, NOT Christianity. They've been deceived and even been telling me I should see physicians, too.

I'm nobody special, but anyone with an ounce of discernment should see where I'm coming from. God help ya if you can't, being so steeped in the delusions of the world.

meds are...complicated. I take 3 daily--low dose Lamictal, Trileptal, and Abilify. The first 2 are anti-seizure meds they now use for mood and anxiety problems. Abilify, of course, is the best selling, most expensive antipsychotic. Its OK...I mean, minimal weight gain, minimal sedation, no "tardive dyskinesia" yet (thank you, antioxidants...).

Anyway, I'm not big pro or anti meds. Undoubtedly, antidepressants can help some people. I read somewhere that antidepressants work best in severe depression, not so well with less severe depression. I guess less severe depression you have more options--supplements, exercise, therapy, spiritual stuff (prayer and fellowship for us Christians, of course), art therapy, so on and so forth.

Problem is...too many people are on too many meds, costing too much money, causing too many avoidable side effects. I read somewhere that 1/10 of American women take at least 1 psychiatric medication per day. Many of those women don't have an official diagnosis. Psych med use is up in men, too.

Antidepressants can help the severely depressed, just as antipsychotics can be a godsend for schizophrenia, schizoaffective, and some people with Bipolar I. But docs give these drugs out to everybody, for everything. Can't sleep? Seroquel! Anxious? Risperdal! Sad? Cymbalta! See what I"m saying?

I need meds, at least for the foreseeable future. Psychosis ain't fun. But...what's with kids with "conduct disorder" taking just as much Abilify per day as me? And people with more moderate depression being put on seroquel and who knows what else, to the exclusion of cheaper drugs or non-drug treatments?

"""""""""""WHAT""""""""""""""are you serious ?
yes is for her fear of thunder. dogs are given:

blood tranfusions. saline solutions, also lithium is used for my dogs seizures. dogs also use tramadol. which is the same meds my wife takes for her back pain. most meds we take they can take.

Yeah these kinda stats are pretty unreal. Like between the time you woke up and the time you ate dinner around 600 people die with this. :sad

There was a guy..a short term friend, he committed suicide in my apartment in 2004. That suicide eventually brought me to God a year later.

The pain is pretty unreal, for the guy who dies and the people around that sadness.

That is a very traumatic and tragic incidence.

Yeah, it's not fun. I would say whoever reads this thread and thought about suicide, please ask for help.
There is 800 hotlines and doctors and family and God himself that care for you, so....
Hope is here, and all you have to do is reach out. There are people that love you, never forget that.

The problem is that some do not ask for help. Some are silent and no one knows the devasting hurt that is going on within them.

Well, why don't you send a good and positive message to the people reading this thread. It will help them.

Jesus gives the answer and cure:

Matthew 6:25-34 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

The Cure for Anxiety

25 “For this reason I say to you, [a]do not be worried about your [b]life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the [c]air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? 27 And who of you by being worried can add a single [d]hour to his [e]life? 28 And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, 29 yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. 30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith! 31 Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ 32 For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But [f]seek first [g]His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be [h]added to you.
34 “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will [i]care for itself. [j]Each day has enough trouble of its own.
As someone who has experienced severe depression and suicidal thoughts (a few years ago, not currently), it's not quite that simple. Mental illnesses come from much more than just worrying too much, neither do they result from a lack of trust in God.

That is very true questdriven and I would like to see more people see that.A severe anxiety is that as well.
