Open Air Preaching [video]

do either of you have videos of your preaching so I can get an idea of what it should sound like and where it should be?

Yes. Google "Robbie Dawkins". He is about as extreme as any of us Vineyard people get, and he is as loving and gentle a giant as you are ever likely to meet.

It is, but the way these guys are going about things is not a good way to do it. It's one thing to be persecuted for the message, it's another to be persecuted because of the way one is trying to get the message across. If the method--like walking along a beach with a megaphone--is so aggravating to others, then anything that is said is lost, and it is a pointless exercise. And of course, it also depends on what is said. Too bad we don't have that in the video.
Here's an example of what this "preacher" is saying and how he's saying it. I think it makes it very clear why he gets assaulted.

I have combined these two threads because the topic is what appears to be the same preacher and essentially the same subject.

:eek Gah! 32 seconds in and I've had enough. What he's saying and how he's saying it explains everything. That isn't preaching.

Jesus is supposed to be our example, and Jesus certainly preached against sin at times. But was there any record of Him doing it in a way that caused people to physically assault Him? Or did He do it in a way that caused people to feel sorry for what they were doing and want to change their ways?

I wonder, if Jesus went somewhere like this beach to preach or teach the gospel and the people that were around Him didn't like what he was saying, what would He do? Would He scream and yell at them and tell them they were all going to hell because they are at the beach enjoying themselves? There is at least one example of Jesus going to a party. It was a wedding party. Gee, did He condemn the people there for having a party? Or did He do something else?

Would Jesus speak kindly and show love and compassion with, for example, the women on the beach that this man in the video accuses of sexual sin? Or would Jesus scream at them and accuse and condemn all of them like this man in the video does? If people on that beach or town didn't want to accept what Jesus had to say, would He continue to fight and argue with them as this man does, or would He just pack up and walk away?

Couldn't agree more. I was going to "Like" this but it seems the feature no longer exists.

I agree that his message is a bit over-the-top and I wouldn't be able to do it but as I listened I also found his message to be heart-piercing, sobering, and convicting. One thing I noticed through the video is those that approached him attacked his message, not his method. It seems they weren't so much aggravated by his preaching but by what he was preaching.

Perhaps or maybe a little of both. His message was the truth wasn't it? How many times does the Bible record where "They took up stones to stone Him." or "They sought to take Him." Jesus often didn't hold back his punches using words such as "brood of vipers" and "hypocrites" among other things. And the persecution continued after His resurrection when most of his disciples were put to death for preaching the name of Jesus. I suspect they'd attach his message even if he softened his method because he brought his message to them where they don't want to be bothered by it. As one of his opponents pointed out that he should preach his message in a church and not at the beach.

Yes, you can reference the chapters John 19, Matthew 27, Mark 15 & Luke 23.

the pharisees were rebuked by Jesus because they were hypocrites. These people believe they can disobey God and be seen as righteous. If Jesus went to the beach he would have surely rebuked these people, firstly for wearing their panties and bras and underwear on the beach. Secondly for being drunkards, drug users and idolaters. The people that came to Christ had to first humble themselves (as we all have to) in order to make a sincere plea for his forgiveness. These people were not humble but instead gloried in their shame and defended their sin. This is hardly humble.

BTW, partying, aka revelry, is listed as a sin that leads to hell. Please reference Galatians 5. Not to mention, these people were not at a wedding and that was not wine they were drinking.

Jesus made a bullwhip and beat everyone out of the temple. Knocked over tables, busted open the cages and animal stalls. Please reference Luke 11:37-54, Matthew 23:1-39, Mark 12:35-40 and Luke 20:45-47 for more of Jesus rebuking hypocrites. Do not be deceived, it is the self righteous hypocrites that Jesus rebuked. People who defend and justify sin are on the broad road to hell. I wish someone had come to me and told me these things a long time ago. I was under the impression i could just say a prayer and ask Jesus into my heart and all was good. But as we can see with the rich young ruler, Jesus did not tell him to say any prayer, he told him to obey God and follow him. This message has been lost in the church today. As Paul wrote, without holiness no one will see the Lord. Or more bluntly by Jesus, repent or perish.

Just FYI, i am not the person in this video. I am not sure how the mod got this guy and the last video i posted mixed up but it matters not.

Paul is talking to people like the women on the beach. The self righteous hypocrites who think they can willfully sin and still inherit Gods kingdom, as if God is not just. These people need to seriously fear God and give glory to him. They wont be defending abortion to God on judgement day. As the proverbs 6 says 'God hates hands that shed innocent blood'. Also Proverbs 17:15 He who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the righteous, Both of them alike are an abomination to the LORD.

...So even being in agreement with sinners is an abomination to the Lord. Im terrified for these people.

Yes he is telling the truth and doping so in a way that most of these people have probably never heard. If my house was on fire i would most certainly want someone pounding on the door. Just as it is if I were in danger of hellfire as these people are i would want someone coming out with a megaphone announcing it. BTW, if these people attend church do you really think their church is preaching holiness? Considering the fruit they bear it is doubtful. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10. I fear for myself even when I do not participate in such behavior so you can imagine how much i fear for these people who do not even recognize their sin. 1 Peter 4:18.

I must have watched a different video than the one you are referring to here, but as a moderator on this forum I'm going to choose to bow out of making any more personal comments on this.

I don't see any of this in that video.

2 Timothy 2....(NKJV)
24 And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient,
25 in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth,
26 and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will.

If you can show from Scripture where Jesus treated sinners in such a way, you have a point. I think you will find he only treated the religious leaders of his day that way. That is the problem as it is vastly different than yelling at and condemning sinners, something Jesus did not do.

1Pe 3:14 But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled,
1Pe 3:15 but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,
1Pe 3:16 having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame. (ESV)
