what a beautiful hymn!
I heard it at Mass this morning for the first time. A lady of about 75 played piano and sang it. No frills.
I was so moved I couldn't sing it! I choked! :)

I know a lot of Christians are very suspicious of emotion. I too can be turned off when I see people getting carried away in worship. (doesn't happen in Catholic masses btw)
But emotion is an important way of connecting with the Lord. It can help with motivation when we feel our faith go through a dry period.

Emotions can be deceiving at times this is true, but there are so many praise and worship songs that I get so carried away in the Spirit as the words are so edifying and lift my spirit up to Spiritual levels I never want to come down from as I either fall to my knees in exaltation to the glory of the Lord or dance around the room like David danced.

Some that come to mind are Mercy Me - I Can Only Imagine, Carmen - Firefall (this one I can hardly stand through it) Amazing Grace done on Bagpipes and so so many more.
