Opinions on The Third Eye

Member
Since I can't post in science as yet, I'm going to post in general. It is a general topic, I guess.

This pineal gland is activated by Light, and it controls the various bio-rhythms of the body. It works in harmony with the hypothalamus gland which directs the body's thirst, hunger, sexual desire and the biological clock that determines our aging process. When it awakens, one feels a pressure at the base of the brain.

While the physiological function of the pineal gland has been unknown until recent times, mystical traditions and esoteric schools have long known this area in the middle of the brain to be the connecting link between the physical and spiritual worlds. Considered the most powerful and highest source of ethereal energy available to humans, the pineal gland has always been important in initiating supernatural powers. Development of psychic talents has been closely associated with this organ of higher vision.

When awakened, the third acts as a 'stargate' that sees beyond Space-Time into Time-Space.

What is your opinion on this?

This kind of thinking is typical of new age religion. They advocate there is some internal "force" or "energy" that connects us to the supernatural realm.

This believe of internal energy is definitely unbiblical. God does not teach us to rely on one's self for growth or connection to things spiritual. That is idolatry, which in this case, believes we possess our own power irrespective of God's power. I like this passage from 1 John 2:16: For everything in the worldâ€â€the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and doesâ€â€comes not from the Father but from the world.

I highly suggest staying away from this kind of teaching. It's definitely of the world (which is the devil) and not of God.

I don't read where the OP says to "rely on one self only." Do we not rely on ourselves when we pray and let the Holy Spirit in? I rely on myself for growth and connection to the Holy Spirit.

Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you? 1 Corinthians 3:16

Churches in the past taught people that they could not reach God unless through a man. That's right. If I didn't confess to a Priest then I couldn't repent my sins. What?!

I don't think the OP mentioned "omitting God's power for our own." Also, if opening your third eye means "connecting link(s) between the physical and spiritual worlds" then how is that "from this world?"

The Bible tells us that the Holy Spirit of God has been given to each of us who has received salvation through faith in Christ (Romans 8:9-11). This Spirit will be our guide and teacher of all truth (John 16:13). For Christians, all spiritual leading and communication should come from God, through prayer and revelation from His Word. The only “sixth sense" we need is the Holy Spirit; everything else is counterfeit. But if we allow the Spirit to fill and control us (Ephesians 5:18), we will not be led astray by deceiving spirits.

Do we not rely on ourselves when we pray and let the Holy Spirit in?

Yes, we have free will to either accept or reject God. However, there is no "power" or "energy" inherent to our body that, absent of God and the Holy Spirit, somehow "connects" us to a spiritual world. That belief is of the devil. The devil tells us we don't need God to be like God (Genesis 2-3). That, in a nut shell, is what the new agers are doing.

Fembot as a person who used to be into that stuff, i dabbled in that, be cautious . It's certainly not biblical. I used to believe in ki(chi). A lot of that is physics not mystic energy. I don't believe in reiki or any form of that. Chiropractic and Acupuncture have ideas like that, but depending on the doctor it can andministred without the hocus pocus, and they have scientific data backing them up.

I don't read anywhere that says "absent of God and the Holy Spirit" in the OP. Do you?

Thanks jason. I take everything that is not from the Bible with a grain of salt. That's why I am seeking solid opinions. I don't appreciate when people add words to statements that weren't there to begin with.

It's certainly not biblical.

Why is that, you think?

Because you can have a strong third eye and still sin and go to hell. i did some of the physic things as well. Most of that is done by feeling and u wanting to be decieved( rather than conversion) see the versusing concerning the reprobate mind, and also the one concerning withcraft by paul the apostle. I used to believe in seing auras and all that crap.

Satan is powerful, and very decietful and if you're not in Christ that he can have his way with you. If you're in jesus and live in the word he can't fool you. A christian shouldn't dabble in any withcraft, tarot cards, or horoscope, or any new age stuff.

I wouldn't dabble in witchcraft or tarot. I understand what you are saying and am not arguing against what you stated. I had an experience a few years ago and a few weeks ago which brought me to this conclusion. Maybe it's the wrong conclusion. I stay in His word and I try to discern all that occurs around me. This, perhaps, is why I have clung so closely to God. Because I want to make sure I am not dabbling with the devil. However, it is hard to figure out what has occurred when the only explanation I get from christians is that it is evil. It's an experience that I've had several times, even when I have accepted Christ am refraining from sinning, abstaining from sex, attending church and praying everyday. How can this be from the devil when I will not allow sin in my life? I have no idea what or where it comes from. I was hoping someone would have accounts of similar experiences. I've found one christian woman who has. I know the devil has many masks. This is why I've resorted to asking strangers if they have had this experience or not. If you haven't, I don't know if your opinion weighs as much as someone who has.

No. Lights. I thought speaking here would help me get other people experiences. Also, someone out there may see this and get the answer they're looking for. I'll pm you.

Hi Fembot!

Can you be a little more specific on your experience? Lights can mean a lot of things. I see lights quite frequently because I get migraine headaches. Sometime the lights, or aura as my doctor describes it, come before a migraine, sometimes I just get the aura and don't have a headache. When I first started having migraines, it started with the aura without any pain. For about a year, on a infrequent basis, I would see lights for no reason. It's sort of like looking through an electric kaleidoscope. It really makes it difficult to do normal activity. Finally, when it started to interfere with my work and driving, I went to the doctor about it and was diagnosed with migraines.

Or, it could be something else. Not all mystical experiences are of Satan. Pentecost ushered in the last days and Joel said that in the last days there will be dreams and visions. Certainly what John experienced on Patmos was supernatural as opposed to natural. There is no reason why Christians should shun all such experiences as being Satanic.

That said, I'm a little leery of the OP. Red flags tend to pop with me when I see language like "supernatural powers" and "stargate".

I know you are directing that comment at me. I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings but I have answered the question in light of God's truth and the link you provided is new age junk. That is the bottom line.

It's my hope and prayer to help others not "dabble" into this kind of misguided new age thinking.

There are many other verses I can give of God's word that speak out against new age religion. If you do not want to listen to me I highly recommend going to carm.org and gotquestions.org and read their sections on new age religion.

Yes, I agree. I don't like what's included on the rest of the website, either.

I never knew there could be a connection between migraines and these occurrences. My father has always had bad migraines. I haven't, though. It never occurs with headaches but the kaleidoscope is quite an accurate description. I'll mention it to a doctor. I just don't want to end up on meds. I don't like taking medicine for something that doesn't bother me much.

Thanks Handy :)

God Bless

Migraines:

What most people don't know and doctors don't always tell us is, a migraine is a syndrome, a series of symptoms and a headache is just one of the symptoms. As you will read below, spots and flashing lights are two more symptoms. Other symptoms are pulsing or throbbing of joints or muscles, sometimes a throbbing in an eye or eyes. Sometimes they occur in a specific order (a syndrome ). If migraines end in headaches, you may take proper preventive precautions (like taking pain relievers in advance or avoiding the "trigger') just by recognizing the specific order of symptoms. You and/or your doctor can work on determining the trigger.

What is migraine?

Migraine is a medical condition. Most people who suffer from migraines get headaches that can be quite severe. A migraine headache is usually an intense, throbbing pain on one, or sometimes, both sides of the head. Most people with migraine headache feel the pain in the temples or behind one eye or ear, although any part of the head can be involved. Besides pain, migraine also can cause nausea and vomiting and sensitivity to light and sound. Some people also may see spots or flashing lights or have a temporary loss of vision....

...We don’t know what causes migraine, but some things are more common in people who have them:

* Most often, migraine affects people between the ages of 15 and 55.
* Most people have a family history of migraine or of disabling headache.
* They are more common in women.
* Migraine often becomes less severe and less frequent with age.

BTW, men suffer from migraines also.

Good info and advice, Vic! :thumb

Fembot, if your dad had migraines, do talk with your doctor about it, it is almost always hereditary. My mom and grandfather had them as well. I didn't start having them until I was well into my 20's and 30's. I don't take any particular medicine other than ibuprofen. I do watch triggers, bright sunshine (I never go outside, even on cloudy days, without sunglasses and a hat), smoke, chocolate :crying , artificial sweeteners. These are the worst of the triggers for me. When I get any kind of symptom, such as what Vic listed, I take a couple of ibuprofen and stay quiet in a darkened room. That tends to take care of them.

However, about that part of getting less severe with age, I'm not so sure. Now that I'm getting a bit older, I find that they are getting worse, so I'll probably talk with a doctor about what more can be done.

His got worse as he got older. I don't know too much bc we don't even live in the same country. I just remember him having migraines every night as a child. Now he has to wear sunglasses all the time bc it has gotten worse, an all day thing. I guess living in FL doesn't help. But I have not had any pain and I don't do drugs. I'm going to pay more attention and ask a doctor what to do. Here I was thinking it's some abnormal occurrence :lol
Thank you so much!
WHERE is the hug smiley?!
