Opposing the death penalty.

You can't preach the Gospel to dead sinners.

"For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God." - 1 Corinthians 15:9

"The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." - 2 Peter 3:9

God is mightier than mans death penalty ...
and GOD MAY forgive men but he seldom negates consequences. king david murdered and commited adultery. God did forgive him but david lost his wives save Bathsheba, the son, and also his two sons from his other wives. I may steal and repent but I still will see jail.

I didn't say I opposed jail, but the death penalty. Two different things. Surely God doesn't need man's judgment to execute his own. The only death penalties in scripture were decreed by God, not man as it is today.

What does the Bible have to say about the death penalty? That is what is more important.
Romans 13:1-7 Paul recognized the power of the government to authorize captial punishment where it was appropriate.God has given government the authority to determine when capital punishment is due Genesis 9:6.It then would be unbiblical to say that God is opposed to capital punishment in all cases.

I see Paul talking of punishment, but not taking life. Which again, the key is God's will.

Clearly all the people in scripture who dropped dead in an instance didn't need corporal punishment. I'm not saying he shouldn't have been put in jail. Severe crimes should have a jail sentence. Jesus is the one who changed the "eye for an eye" treatment.

Also: I am not saying to resist authority. I'm just stating the mere fact that if there was no death penalty there would be more time for a sinner to make a decision for Christ.

I mean Ted Bundy may have been saved. He had a last minute conversion displaying faith and repentance.

One of those topic we will never agree on... :)
In our town a woman shot dead 4 people in a town meeting setting ... a large number of witness .... her emblezing was about to be made public.. She is guilty.. she brought 2 guns to the meeting...the second jammed or more would have died In my mind there is no doubt she is guilty i could go for the DP.... she planned to do it all the points that IMO justify the DP ...

The slightest doubt and no DP ...

what does the sword in romans 13 mean and being anti-death penalty doesn't stop this law in 50. if an inmate convicted of a felony escapes and it seen by the guard. he is able to shot , for what reason ? simply escaping a facility.

The same thing could have been said about Paul: "He could have killed more Christians". But Christ used him as an example of his grace as Paul titled himself the worst of sinners.

Jesus said we should not forgive 7 times, but 70 times 7 times.

I remember seeing on the news years ago, an Amish school got shot up. I forget if the guy got shot by cops, or if he killed himself. The Amish went to the funeral of the criminal.

A person with a death sentence has time to repent.
It only takes a couple of seconds if it is real.
In fact, once a person has heard the Gospel, they've had time to repent.
This debate proves that Christians do not belong in politics or the military.
Our job is to give the Gospel.
It's the world's job to give death sentences.

I think that is right according to the Bible

And this is why I do not vote or pledge allegiance. I only pledge allegiance to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ of Nazareth: the first begotten of the dead.

It does say "One Nation Under God".

so you don't sign a contract, a car loan or take the oath of marriage? shoot back in the days of joseph and mary, the parents(earthly) parents of jesus swore and oath to marry each other and it became lawful fully at the signing of the contract in Aramaic during the wedding day. I know my dad has my grandparents contract somewhere in his home.

weak argument if you are going to use that for laws then you must also not call the cops nor file a complaint for theft, rape and so forth. remember to forgive in that context as you say it must mean if they ask, its done. no punishments and always mercy.
