I was at a church function this morning where both of our pastors (kindly) disagreed with each other on this point, and I was sort of surprised that they said so out loud in front of many people. I looked for scripture supporting it, and the only thing I can come up with is that (theologically) Jesus didn't inherit original sin because he was not Joseph's son.

But, while that's reasonable, I don't see it as being necessary for Him to be without sin. Anything I'm missing?

Some people believe that sin is carried genetically, which explains why Jesus human blood wouldn't have the sin marker. Joseph and Mary both did not donate any chromosomes to Jesus.

Yes, our sin nature came from Adam, and that is why Mary was a sinner and needed a savior like the rest of us. The sin "genes" were passed onto Mary from her father. However, since Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit, he did not inherit the sin "genes".

I don't see any sin "genes" in the Word....or "original sin" for that matter.

Men are sinners because they have sinned.
Sin is an individual, voluntary choice, so no one can sin for someone else.

Sin entered into the "world".
Romans 5:12 said:
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
Man is "upright" until he partakes of the sin that "entered into the world."
Ecclesiastes 7:29 said:
Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions.

"The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him." Ezekiel 18:20

"The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin." Deuteronomy 24:16

"But he slew not their children, but did as it is written in the law in the book of Moses, where the Lord commanded, saying, The fathers shall not die for the children, neither shall the children die for the fathers, but every man shall die for his own sin." II Chronicles 25:4

Oh the sin jeans were defintely there! He was a man just like you and me. He was just obedient! He was given the same opportunity to sin just as you and I!

Psa 8:4 KJV - What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
Psa 8:5 KJV - For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.

Hbr 2:6 KJV - But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him?
Hbr 2:7 KJV - Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands:
Hbr 2:9 KJV - But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

Hbr 4:15 KJV - For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as [we are, yet] without sin.

Hi, 'i' see Christ coming as Adam without sin as not needing to be be Born Again. In other words, He had NO 'DESIRE' or prepensity for sin. Yet, He was borm around 4000 years into Adams 'carnal' body, He had the body decayed from sin only.

I most likely see this as one of your pastors did? Christ did not only come to save His creation. (Heb. 1:2 'other worlds + Heb. 11:3, even the few saved from heavens rebellion of from Matt. 25's %50 to Rev. 12's 1/3 by future faith)

He also as I see it came to prove that perfect Adam needed to not sin. And Christ's life was lived as Adam was created, WITH NO DESIRE FOR SIN, and then as Adam could LIVE AFTER HE SINNED to satisfy the Conditional 'OBEDIENT' Plan of Salvational Probation. (also the Eternal Law of the Godhead found another reason for Christ's life here on earth. Isa. 42:21)

Christ's body was the continued place of attack by satan to get the perfect
sinless MIND OF CHRIST to fall as did Adam. Even to the point of ALL on Faithful mankinds sins laid upon Christ in His death on the cross.

And actually, when we are Born Agan, we are brought back to Adam's pre/fall's 'spiritual mind perfection'! If one BELIEVES Phil. 4:13 + 2 Cor. 12:9 completely? (again, as 'i' see it) we are now again on probation as were Adam & Eve.. to mature into MATURE GROWN UP SAFE TO SAVE PERFECTION.

Surely it was not only for us to be saved that the Godhead needed to use this Eternal Gospel Plan, but there must of been some in heaven's rebellion who believed who were on the 'edge' of still not knowing FOR SURE that satan was not reclaimable? So, the Godhead placed Theirself on a type of trial before the Universe to Eternally Prove this Truth. Nah. 1:9 Even then the only thing that will be actually seen in heaven ever again to remind the Creation of 'rebellion' and God's required Justice, will be Christ 'NAILPRINTS +' .
