The problem with having wrong ideas is that they pit one scripture against another. I don’t have that problem.

Hello again Levi, if that's really true, that the church's understanding of what "the flesh" is in this case is wrong, then we do indeed have a problem

So, please elaborate a bit on this for us by giving us a couple of Biblical examples that show us the Scriptural conflicts/contradictions that you are referring to!

The problem with the flesh is that it has its own desires which care nothing for any laws. It only wants what it wants.

There are phases like:
“the law is made weak by the flesh”

and “in me, that is in my flesh, dwells no good”

and “For when we lived according to the flesh, the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in our bodies, bearing fruit for death.”

And “In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:“

And, “3All of us also lived among them at one time, fulfilling the cravings of our flesh and indulging its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature children of wrath.…”

Hi Levi (LeviR), those are great examples that seem, at least to me, to support the church's understanding/teaching about what the Bible normally means by "the flesh". These are, in point of fact, some of the verses/passages that the church (her pastors/theologians/etc., that is) turns to regularly in support of/as a demonstration of what it teaches (along with the Bible) about "the flesh".

Perhaps we need to take another careful/closer look at these verses, one at a time, to see if we can get on the same page about what they mean and why!(?)

It's commonly believed the so-called fallen nature is inherited from one's biological
father. Oh? Then whence did Eve get it? She was constructed with material taken
from Adam's body but that was all over and done with before he tasted the
forbidden fruit; so it was too late for him to transmit the fallen nature to her via
heredity.

FAQ: If Eve's altered moral perception wasn't inherited from Adam; then from
where? Did God do it?

REPLY: Mr. Serpent is the logical source, a.k.a. the Devil (Rev 20:2) He has the
power of death (Heb 2:14) and the ability to tamper with the human body and the
human mind in ways not easily detected. (e.g. Luke 13:16, Mark 5:1-5, Eph 2:2)

The Serpent was apparently all set and ready to wield his power the moment that
Adam crossed the line and ate that fruit. It amazes me how quickly it takes effect.
Not long after Adam tasted the fruit, he and his wife both immediately set to work
cobbling together some rudimentary aprons to cover up their pelvic areas.

FAQ: When does the Serpent go to work on people: in the womb or out of the womb?

REPLY: Adam and his wife demonstrate the Serpent's ability to work on adults, but
I'm guessing he gets to most everyone else in the womb. (e.g. Ps 51:5 & Ps 58:3)

Was an Angel who the one true God who is the Father alone had sent by saying “My name (YHVH, LORD) is in him”. Obey His voice because when he speaks, it with the full authority of the one true God who alone is the Father.
