Can you run Mandrake on the SparcStation5's? Or Red Hat on the HP9000's?

I don't know much about Mandrake or Red Hat.

I learned on Debian and is the only dist I use in the Linux world.

I can affirm that Debian, FreeBSD, NetBSD and OpenBSD will run on the SparcStation5, with NetBSD being the only one that currently has "smp" available for the Enterprise 3000's.

Again...... I have 2 excess 22.5 viewable Sun monitors here.

They'd be heavy to ship but obviously "do able". At what cost I have no idea!

I prefer Linux - since I run a Web Hosting business and all our servers are either RedHat 9.0 or RHE 3.0

But we also use Windows 98 & XP since most our customers need support in relation to these OS.

Been a linux user for five years, started with Mandrake 7 used many in between (SuSE, Red Hat, many LiveCD which are great for windows repair etc.....) finally settle on Debian (main system) & Ubuntu (backup system), my testing system is for trying all the varied linux, BSD OS.

However I still keep up on windows because my spouse still uses it for Sonar 4 & Project5, and I repair, & upgrade computers in my spare time all of which thus far have had some version of windows. Also winxp is used on the job.

Suse is the best distro. Go to http://distrowatch.com/ and look who's #2 on the right side of the webpage. Suse is rpm based not debian based. Does anyone have the new Suse 10.1. I got it and it's great. If you get Xgl up and running then it is the greatest. I prefer Suse over any other linux operating system. Now I could love to have a Mac computer just isn't a need so can't really afford one right now. I do like Windows also. So, I did some research and found something called [url-http://www.vmware.com]VMware[/url] and it is really cool. Now I'm running Wiindows 2000 in a seperate window on my operating system without dual booting or anything. I like Linux because it's free for the most part, and it has very few viruses. I've never gotten a virus from linux, but I've gotten many from Windows. The reason I still like Windows is because of it's easy installation of packages. While Linux you have to use a terminal quite a bit. Linux does though need to work on the installation of packages.
