Over Moderation

I have been a member of several forums and enjoy them. This forum is generally very nice but appears to have many moderators. I was wondering what others think of this.

I perceive this as power play and designed to intimidate with the heavenly threat of censorship. I was wondering if people consider the amount of moderation necessary. Other forums have no where near the amount of moderation as this place. There is a difference between moderation and friendly advise. I suggest the latter as a more appropriate course of action. I am thinking of leaving this place. Thank you for your time.

I hear your objection. I actually like it when it is moderated. Some non-believers especially really get carried away with unGodly views.
I'm not sure whether you ran into a rebuttal on something you said (wasn't calling you unGodly) or someone else you were reading did, but I do consider some moderating necessary.
I have been to other sites that push their own doctrine so much...ie calvinism ...that a person can barely make a statement. This one is better.
There are a wide range of views here...that's for sure...and I definitely don't think they are all correct, but at least we get to state our own perception.
Hope you find something appropriate to your liking if you go elsewhere.
P.S. It's a good idea to actually find some Christian site that offers proper teaching...instead of only a free for all debate. Like I said I liked David Hockings...Chuck Missler...Hope you find something right for you if you try out others.
God Bless whatever you decide...and don't feel obligated to leave, just because I left a little note for you. Just putting my :twocents in.

I am generally happy with the moderation on this forum, I do feel that istead of locking a thread they should rather remove post that go against the rules of the thread. Because we are a christian thread I believe we need guidlines. I don't believe we have joined a christian thread only to be attacked and ridiculed by non-christians. Moderators of this forum are OK.

Well something or someone has really annoyed him: ôþ ÑÂòøôðýøѠis Russian (do svidaniya) which means goodbye. I personally do not like moderation but the only real evidence I have heard of here are the locked forums which I do not have access to any how. Anyway he has gone; somebody here managed to push away a beautiful Russian Christian kid from the Russian Orthodox Church.

Maybe you don't like moderators because you don't like rules or authority? You need to choose which account stays and which one goes.

Thanks.

10- If a rule is broken, proper warning will be given to the user based on the level of infraction of the rule. Some violations are more severe and frequent than others and will be taken into consideration. It may result in banning of user or loss of some options. As a general rule, three warnings may result in suspension of account.

Editing and deleting of posts is at the discretion of the Mods and Admins. Refusal of membership and suspension or termination of existing members is at the discretion of the Administrators. Openly challenging a Mod or Admin is frowned upon.

One account per person. Additional account will be deleted. Banned members who are found registering under an "alt" will be banned immediately.

My personal opinion about the moderators here? Thanks for asking.
So often people who strive for excellence are under-appreciated.
I'm fairly certain that is the case here as well.
Does God ask us to pray for those over us? What about Moderators?

:pray Lord, continue to give wisdom to those here who volunteer their time in Your service. I applaud their work and ask you to reward this not only in heaven but also give Your reward into their lives, into their relationships and into their hearts.

Let them be dismayed when later You say, "Moderator? You have fed me!"
When they behold Your glory and are struck by how Awesome You are, let them cry out, "Lord! I know there can be no lie in you! How can you even say that I have done such a thing???" :screwloose

:naughty "Pardon me for saying like this, but when I have fed YOU?

"When you have done such for even the least of these, my little ones - you have done this for ME."

Thanks, you guys!
It's a thankless job for now but it is IMPOSSIBLE for you to do anything in His Name that He does not see. "I will repay," saith the Lord, the God of Justice.

:amen

I think this is not the case. Please do not get personal.
Don't get personal? Read your opening post which is nicely quoted in the post after it:

"but appears to have more moderators than prison guards, or posters. I perceive this as power play and designed to intimidate with the heavenly threat of censorship."

There needs to be moderation otherwise rules are useless and if there are no rules, there is chaos. It's chaotic enough as it is.

HA HA!!! I think the mods here do a great (unappreciated job)! This site is very relaxed compared to most. I actually think some members take liberties they probably shouldn't, including me. :D

I think that they do an outstanding job. We are pretty much allowed to say what is on our minds here. When they thought I was out of line I was told so respectfully and in a PM. I'm glad you started this thread because it allows some of us to say thanks for a job well-done which I'm sure that otherwise most of us (me anyway) would probably never have been thoughtful enough to say.
THANKS FOR A JOB WELLDONE!!!

Sometimes I like to say what should be said, as it clears the air and then I know how others feel.
I guess it was a bit of a shock to come here and find so many moderators and so many rules and regulations as though we are little children, when other forums (christian ones) appear to have no moderation whatsoever: I noticed that the sky has not fallen in those forums.
The moderators I have spoken to here are polite, well meaning and helpful. It is good to see so much support for the moderation team then

Well thanks for the appreciation everyone! :)

Moderation is necessary to make sure that order is kept. If you think how thick the consitution is, that's a lot of rules, even for a country. And a country has police and a government. The same structure applies here. We have a set of (relatively small) rules/guidelines to help keep this a respectable place for people to be, and then we have the moderators and administrators who are the 'police' and assist with the day-to-day operations of the site.
A lot goes on behind the scenes on a day-to-day basis that makes the board function as it should, just like there's more to police work than most people realise.

If we didn't have moderators (or in society police) it would be anarchy. Imagine a world without authority! :o. Look at what's happened in current events in the past week or so...and that's with moderation!

We have quite a few moerators here so with all the time differences etc so we can have at least one moderator on all the time, or close to it. Also, if a few moderators take a break, we can still cope.

Anyway, I just want to thank you all for your kind words. :).

God bless all of you.
