Bible Study Paradice earth

I have another question for everyone.

Do you think the earth will be destroyed when Jesus comes back?

Thank you. :D
At the end of time, the Kingdom of God will come in its fullness. After the universal judgment, the righteous will reign for ever with Christ, glorified in body and soul. The universe itself will be renewed

The Church will receive her perfection only in the glory of heaven, when will come the time of the renewal of all things. At that time, together with the human race, the universe itself, which is so closely related to man and which attains its destiny through him, will be perfectly re-established in Christ.

Sacred Scripture calls this mysterious renewal, which will transform humanity and the world, "new heavens and a new earth." It will be the definitive realization of God's plan to bring under a single head "all things in Christ, things in heaven and things on earth."

In this new universe, the heavenly Jerusalem, God will have his dwelling among men. "He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain any more, for the former things have passed away."

For man, this consummation will be the final realization of the unity of the human race, which God willed from creation and of which the pilgrim Church has been "in the nature of sacrament. "Those who are united with Christ will form the community of the redeemed, "the holy city" of God, "the Bride, the wife of the Lamb." She will not be wounded any longer by sin, stains, self-love, that destroy or wound the earthly community. The beatific vision, in which God opens himself in an inexhaustible way to the elect, will be the ever-flowing well-spring of happiness, peace, and mutual communion.

For the cosmos, Revelation affirms the profound common destiny of the material world and man: For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God . . . in hope because the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay.... We know that the whole creation has been groaning in travail together until now; and not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.

The visible universe, then, is itself destined to be transformed, "so that the world itself, restored to its original state, facing no further obstacles, should be at the service of the just," sharing their glorification in the risen Jesus Christ.

We know neither the moment of the consummation of the earth and of man, nor the way in which the universe will be transformed. The form of this world, distorted by sin, is passing away, and we are taught that God is preparing a new dwelling and a new earth in which righteousness dwells, in which happiness will fill and surpass all the desires of peace arising in the hearts of men.

When Jesus returns for his people the wicked will all be slain. This is evident in the New Testament Gospels. Matt. 13:41-42,49-50; Matt. 24:27-30; Luke 17:28-30; These are only a few that tell of the destruction of the wicked at His return. The old Testament also tells of that day. Jeremiah 4:23-26 tells what the earth will look like on that day. A lot of people believe this was talking about before creation. If so then why would be so much emphaces on the things that are no more. Something was there once, but now it is all gone. In fact there are cities here described as being broken down......Read also Jer. 4:27-29; Jer. 25:33. None of these verses from the old or new Testament has anything that could cause anyone to remotely even believe there is any life at all on the earth after Christ comes for His people.

If you read and study Rev. 20, 21,&22 tell what happens to earth After Jesus returns. After a time Jesus will return with all His saints. It is at that time that we will come back to our earthly home. There will be no others left there that are evil. they all have suffered the 2nd death by now.

In short the righteous will, in due time, come back to earth to live, and the wicked will be dead and gone, and so will Satan and his angels.

thank you rainbow for your input. I will check those Scriptures. :D

I think this is a very important issue. I believe that the scriptures teach of Jesus renewing and restoring the earth, not destroying it. Paul tells us that creation will be liberated from its bondage to decay. This can hardly happen if the earth is incinerated.

Heaven is a nice place, but it is a temporary roadside in for the redeemed. The ultimate abode of God's people will be in a renewed physical creation.

This is part of the reason why I do not believe in the notion of the rapture. Jesus is not returning to snatch us away from the earth. He is coming to install us on the renewed and redeemed earth.

Hi, Drew :D

Thanks for your input. What do you think about BF's reasonings? He is saying so many things I did not know; like no animals in new earth...

Here is the PLACE in which you err.

Heaven is a nice place, but it is a temporary roadside in for the redeemed. The ultimate abode of God's people will be in a renewed physical creation.

And HERE you offer that which is ABLE to offer understanding.

This is part of the reason why I do not believe in the notion of the rapture. Jesus is not returning to snatch us away from the earth. He is coming to install us on the renewed and redeemed earth.

And HERE is that 'understanding'. The KEY word being 'renewed'. For there is MORE than sufficient evidence that the Bible DOES indeed offer that the earth WILL be destroyed; UTTERLY. And that there will BE a "NEW Earth', or as you have stated yourself; a RE-NEWED Earth.

From ALL indications it will MOST LIKELY be destroyed by our sun going Nova. For there IS mention of the very ELEMENTS of this earth being MELTED AWAY. A heat SO fervent that even the very elements of it being destroyed. This IS exactly what would happen if our Sun lost it's cohesion. And from an historical standpoint, we can clearly SEE that God's miracles are MOSTLY His USE of that which He HAS created. No reason to believe that the 'things' that will happen to this earth described in Revelation will NOT be 'natural occurances' as would defined by 'science'.

gila,

this is to answer your question about animals on the new earth. .... There will be animals on the new earth according to Isa. 11:6-9......

From what I get out of the Bible is there won't be animals in the New Jerusalem(holy City). When we come back to the earth there will be animals. They won't be killing us, they will be vegetarians.

That's not talking about the new earth; that’s the 1,000 year rule of Jesus and His brothers and sisters, which will start soon after Jesus' return….the new heaven and the new earth will be much later on down. And as far as them ( the saints) coming back to the earth, they will not leave the earth at Jesus return, except to meet Jesus in the air, they will then shortly after that rule from Jerusalem. There is no where in the Bible that says that Jesus will return to the earth a third time.

That's possible, since that Bible does not tell us how it will be done, just that the earth will be engulfed in flames so hot the even the elements will melt with great heat.

The earth is to remain forever, for David, at Psalms 37:29, was inspired to write that "the righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they will reside forever upon it." In verse 11 of Psalms 37, God inspired David to write that "the meek one will possess the earth, and they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace." Jesus confirmed this, saying that the "meek shall inherit the earth."(Matt 5:5)

At Isaiah 45:18, it says that "this is what Jehovah has said, the Creator of the heavens, He the true God, and the Former of the earth and the Maker of it, He the One who firmly established it, who did not create it simply for nothing, who formed it even to be inhabited." In addition, the "earth (God) has given to the sons of men."(Ps 115:16) Thus, the earth is to remain forever, but not under the existing conditions, with all it's crime, hate, and pollution.

The earth is divided or segregated into nations, with each fighting for their soveregnty. This was not God's original purpose in the Garden of Eden. Rather, there is to be one government, God's kingdom, that will rule over the earth.(1 Cor 15:24) and will remove all human governments at the "war of the great day of God Almighty" at Armageddon.(Rev 16:14,16; Dan 2:44)

It was created to restore what Adam lost in the Garden of Eden, the purposeful enjoyment of life everlasting under perfect conditions, for those who exercise faith in Jesus and adhere to his "words", following his commands. The apostle Peter said that there is to be "the times of restoration of all things of which God spoke through the mouth of his holy prophets of old time."(Acts 3:21) Thus, God has purposed for a "restoration" of the earth, for such prophets as David, Isaiah and even Jesus spoke of the earth residing forever with "meek" ones living upon it.

Jesus, when upon the torture stake, confirmed this and told one of the evil-doers that was also being put to death, that "Truly, I tell you today, You will be with me in Paradise."(Luke 23:43) The only paradise that this Jewish evil-doer knew of was the one in the Garden of Eden, found in the first book of the Bible, at Genesis 1-3.

The book of Revelation provides a detailed glimpse into what God will do, saying of mankind on the earth, that "the tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them and they will be his peoples. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away."

Is John seeing a vision of heaven ? No, for he saw that God is with "mankind" and mankind is on the earth. Too, is there any death or mourning in heaven ? No, here on the earth, it is everywhere. Hence, God has purposed that this earth be restored to it's original paradise state, whereby death, sorrow, and pain of heart will have passed away. How can we be sure of this ?

Revelation 21:5 says: "And the One seated on the throne said: "Look! I am making all things new." Also, he says: "Write, because these words are faithful and true."

Revelation 21:5 says: "And the One seated on the throne said: "Look! I am making all things new." Also, he says: "Write, because these words are faithful and true."

I don't think that anyone is saying this earth will be completely destroyed;certainly I am not saying that, just that the surface of the earth will be engulfed in flames so hot that everything on the surface will melt. If you study the Bible closely you will see that this will take place after the millennium, in fact way later; yes the millennium is a period of time in which the nature of animals will change, and the earth will be a paradise.

But it will not be this way forever, but as I said ultimately when God’s entire plan has been accomplished, then and only then will God set out to create a new heaven and a new earth. This new earth will not look anything like the earth would even look during the millennium. As I said it's not that this earth will be no more and replaced by a different earth, but that its surface will be different......there will be no sea or animals on the new earth.

Due to the King James Bible incorrect rendering of 2 Peter 3:10, many feel that the earth will be "burned up", for it says that "the day of the Lord shall come as a thief in the night; in which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up."

However, in the most ancient manuscripts, such as the Codex Vaticanus (Vatican Manucscript No. 1209) and Codex Sinaiticus, both of the fourth century C.E., have the word "discovered" instead of "burned up", literally "shall be found". At the online interlinear, Scripture4all, this can be seen. In grasping the significance of Peter's statement, there is the necessity of understanding the terms "heavens" and "earth", these often do not designate the physical heavens and earth, which are an abiding part of God's creative handiwork. Psalms 104:5 says that God "has founded the earth upon it's established places; it will not be made to totter to time indefinite, or forever."

A notable example of this are the words of Isaiah 13:13 regarding the day of God's triumph over ancient Babylon, which says: "I shall cause heaven itself to become agitated, and the earth will rock out of it's place at the fury of Jehovah of armies and at the day of his burning anger." Obviously the fall of ancient Babylon resulted in no agitation of the physical heavens - sun, moon, stars, and planets - nor was the literal earth rocked out of it's place. But, figuratively speaking, the heavens and earth were affected. How ?

The Babylonians worshipped the sun and moon as well as the stars and planets as gods and goddesses.(Isa 47:13) Therefore, when these deities proved unable to help Babylon in her greatest time of need, her "heavens" became agitated. Also the "earth" of the Babylonian Empire was rocked out of it's place. Babylon lost control of this vast portion of the earth upon being defeated by the Medo-Persia on October 5/6, 539 B.C.E., and then became just a province of the Persian Empire.

The case of ancient Babylon illustrates that the heavenly bodies have been viewed as representing powers higher than men, powers that have exercised controlling influence over mankind. The worship that had been given to these heavenly bodies has actually gone to invisible spirit forces higher than men, namely to Satan and his demons. The apostle Paul made this evident when he said that "the things the nations sacrifice they sacrifice to demons."(1 Cor 10:20)

Thus, the Bible identifies that Satan and his demons constitute a "heavens" over the human society alienated from God, for the apostle Paul referred to "wicked spirit forces in the heavenly places", with their governments, authorities and world rulers.(Eph 6:12) And 1 John 5:19 tells us: "The whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one."

Hence, the "heavens" spoken of by Peter are not the literal heavens but rather the "heavens" composed of Satan and his demons, that will "pass away with a great noise".(King James Bible) A fierce, devouring flame of great magnitude makes a "great noise", as for example, in the burning of a house or forest. Literal fire would be ineffective in bringing an end to Satan and his demons. But the wicked "heavens", all human governments that are under his control, will not escape the expression of God's rage, spoken in the Scriptures like a fire.(Ps 89:46; Isa 30:27)

That the Satanic and demonic heavens will pass away is confirmed in the book of Revelation. After having seen a vision of the complete defeat of Satan's forces and the casting of Satan into the abyss, the apostle John noted that the "former heaven and former earth had passed away."(Rev 21:1) Thus, the "former heaven" and the "former earth" is not literal. The "heavens" represent all human governments, with their kings of the earth and their armies, and according to Revelation 19:19-21, are in line for destruction.

The "former earth" represents the wicked human society under the control of Satan and his demons. That the "earth" can denote earth's inhabitants is seen at Psalms 96:1. Accordingly, no "elements" (or constituent parts) of the symbolic heavens and earth will be able to withstand the intense heat of God's anger. They will be completely "dissolved".("melt with fervent heat", King James Bible) This somewhat parallels Malachi 4:1: " ' The day is coming that is burning like the furnace, and all the presumptuous ones and all those doing wickedness must become as stubble. And the day that is coming will certainly devour them, ' Jehovah of armies has said, ' so that it will not leave to them either root or bough."

The "earth", the ungodly human society, and it's works will be "discovered", for wicked human society and it's works will be seared bare of all disguise, exposed as being against God and his kingdom by Christ Jesus, and therefore worthy of destruction. To avoid God's "burning" anger, Peter says: "Do your utmost to be found finally by him spotless and unblemished and in peace."(2 Pet 3:14)
