I have a hunch that when Jesus spent time with these types he didn't participate in rebel rousing, drunkenness, debauchery, etc. but I'm betting he did participate with limitations. In other words, He did not commit sinful acts to fit in. I think a good example is the wedding at Cana where he provided barrels of wine.

Exactly. I, and I don't think anyone else supporting this idea here is trying to suggest that Jesus committed sins to gain the favor or friendship of the unsavory of His time.

my pastor has a vision that our church shall return to that and not just talk about what god did but what god can do.

It wasn't the Pharisees saying he did this, eating and drinking, with publicans and sinners. He did do that. Mark 2, says He did. And the self-righteous Pharisees criticized Him for doing that.

I understand he did do that. The op gave me the impression Jesus drank more than normal.

You did not offend, friend. No worries. I do apologize to you, though. I misunderstood you. I thought you were saying that He did not do that but was just accused of it.
The OP reads a little unrestrained and I believe was intended to make a strong statement. imo, it could be taken a couple different ways because of the wording. Words don't always mean the same thing to all of us. We tend to get impressions that may or may not be the same as the one who wrote them. I think reba and Edward addressed this.

I don't know about you all, but I'm one happy dude that Jesus came to save and hang out with us types and not those scribes and pharisees in the white house and people of their ilk.
